Everything was supposed to be great. My last day of work before vacation. A day of work, then a flight out.
Here is how my day has went so far:
5:45 AM - Show up for work. My father drops me off because he's taking me to the airport after work.
6:00 AM - Call from boss on cell phone - "Troy, you don't need to come in today, the weather is supposed to be bad, stay home" ummm, too late.
6:30 AM - Call airport to see if I can get stand by flight
6:45 AM - All flights canceled
8:45 AM - After 2 hours on hold, I find out the earliest I can get out of town is December 24, late afternoon.
10:00 AM - Office closed, everyone told to leave and go home.
10:01 AM - I'm stuck, because my father won't get off work until a little after 12.
It's snowing over an inch an hour here. Why on Earth did the weatherman pick TODAY to be right?
I'm sure others have had it worse, I just had to vent. Four days of vacation are going to be shot. I don't get to see little Ashley or Eric for another four days. I'm really bummed. :(

Albuquerque airport is open. I 25 is pretty bad north of Albuquerque, but it's passable. Maybe you could get a flight out of there? Might be worth looking into.
Roadtrip!!.....you could do a whole Planes,trains and automobiles thingy.:D
Sorry to hear about your shitty day:(

Sorry to hear that, Troy. I hope the weather lets up for you soon. But most importantly, stay safe.

Sorry about your day. Maybe if you start drinking early it'll get better...

Man, that sucks.
Avoiding this kind of stress is one of the good things about moving back home. Outside of a trip to the airport to pick up a brother-in-law, all Holiday "travel" will take place within 10 mile radius from my home. Then again the drawback to this is that I will have to go to work on the 26th.

Things could be worse. Just amazing how everything piled on top of one another so fast. I like the drinking idea. As soon as I get home, that may be an option. (of course, knowing I would be gone for 12 days, I have nothing to drink in the fridge at all, so it'd have to be straight liquor if I can't get to a store tonight)
I'll spend some quality time with FOF tonight and provided the power stays on watch the Suns club the shorthanded Nuggets by forty.
It's good to have a place to vent. Thanks for listening. :)

What a day, what a day
If you can look it in the face
And hold your vomit
Then again the drawback to this is that I am a Red wings fan
Fixed!!:D

I came home about 10am before conditions got worse. Up until about 8 this morning, we had been a dry hole with the storms all around us...and the hole collapsed and north winds poured in. But the moisture content is still very low. I think people in the East would be surprised that 1-foot of snow in a winter storm would yield about 1/4-inch of precipitation. That's why the winter months are our driest months, regardless of how much snow we get. (The spring snow storms in April and May are another story.)

Sorry to hear about the crappy day. Hope you got to at least enjoy the quality time with FOF.

Sittin' on your ass all day thinkin' about your hangover
and the party you left your fuckin' keys at
and had to beg for a ride from a stranger that I never met before he acted
so friendly that I had to take the ride
but for some reason he resembled that guy wanted for a robbery
and beatin' on his kid "you remind me of my stepson" he chuckles with a grin.
What was that move that they taught in self-defense
where you block the killer's knife move with some confidence
The signal where you're trapped inside a moving car
wonder if he'll drive real far.
What a day, What a day, you should've stayed home shootin' the breeze all day,
What a day, What a day, you should think next time before you start to play,
What a day, what a day, I wonder what will happen today.
Rub your eyes from no sleep this week tap your heels home then fall asleep.
Sittin' around looking for a fight kinda' pissed off how I'm turnin'
My life up-side down from insecure insecurities makin' up
My mind through old hypocrisy up and out of harms way down
cause I want to be there here because you want
Me not because you're caught in my stare.
Rub your eyes from no sleep this week tap your heels home then fall asleep,
asleep in bed you'll do something tomorrow instead.

Our dispatch center in Layfette has 3 dispatchers who have been there for a day or so because nobody can get there to relieve them.

FWIW, I have 2 days off to be home with my family before I have to go to work over the holiday, and I am sick. :( I did have a productive chat with the toilet last night though.
Not the way that things were supposed to work out for me either. I am supposed to be flying a DEN turn the morning of the 23rd, gets me there about 1030am and back to Cincy by 330pm. Personally, I hope it gets cancelled too.

This has been a bad day. :(
Since October, I've been working on an assignment here in San Francisco. I live in Chicago. Every week I fly out on Sunday night, and fly back on Thursday. My Thursday flight is, without fail, always delayed.
Last weekend I wasn't able to go home, so I've been here for two weeks straight. So, this morning I wake up all excited - I get to go home today!
I get to the airport around noon and learn that my flight's been delayed. No big surprise - it's always delayed. After I go through security and all that, about 30 minutes later I learn that it, and all other flights from SF to Chicago (on American) today are being cancelled. :(
I talk to the ticket agent. I spend a lot of time looking around. Bottom-line: I can't get a seat on pretty much airline from any nearby airport to Chicago until... Sunday (yes, the 24th). :( :( :(
I miss my wife & my dog. Happy Holidays.
