My 360 recently broke and I called CS to learn that although being under warranty I must pay for and ship the console to them. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Do I just need to ship this thing certified mail and with insurance?

I sent mine out UPS 2 day on a monday, they got it there Wednesday. They sent out a new one that I recieved on the following Tuesday. Overall a decent experience other than the week of down time. It worked out for me though since it was exam week.

My 360 recently stopped working as well. How much does the repair cost?

Since mine officially became dead a few days ago, I'd like to know shipping and repair costs myself :)

Shipping costs I will let you all know later today.

The repair is free for me since I'm still under warranty. If your warranty has run out it is 140. You can then buy a service contract for 30 bucks (1 year) and have it covered including shipping costs.

Cost me 11 bucks, priority mail, to ship with the delivery confirmation.

Now to play the waiting game.

(twiddles thumbs)

Ah the waiting game sucks, I'm gonna go play Hungry Hungry Hippos.

Wow, how often do these things break? I figure I'll get one after a spring price drop(if there is one anyways). This makes me want to go get a costco membership, and buy one there. At least i'd know I was covered indefinitely.

Not sure. FWIW, I'm not aware of any of the 360 dev kits around our office breaking, and we've got ~20-25 or so.

My power supply went bad, but my warranty is with Gamestop - so they just pulled a new one out of the box and switched me.

FYI they are extending the warranty to a full year instead of 90 days.

My repair was free due to the extention, the shipping only cost me about 10 bucks or so. They pay the shipping on the way back if I remember correctly it was 3 day select or something like that.

Once they got it, I had an email stating they had it and would get back to me. 6 hours later I had another email saying that a new one was on its way back to me.

Two friends I know locally both have had the infamous overheat system error and have had to scrap theirs.

Just got an Xbox 360 as an early Xmas gift today. I fired it up and immediately got error E68 which appears to mean the hard drive is crap.

Great!

Update for those who care: System has still not arrived since the Repair Center is closed on weekends, so I estimate a Tuesday or Wednesday delivery and hopefully will have it back by next Saturday.

Fun little tidbit, the original support guy I spoke with said they had mailed me a box and 5 days later it still hadn't arrived. Upon calling they told me that I wasn't getting a box and would have to send in, which sucked since I was just sitting around waiting on them. So I complained with a supervisor for about 5 minutes and sent it in. Today I get a package with PGR 3 from the support team. Can't wait to get my box back.

I bought a 360 about a month ago at wal-mart and it had a bad drive, about an hour and a half after buying it I was back exchanging it. It was funny because I asked the clerk about the return policy when I made the purchase. The second one has given me no problems.

I wish I could do the same, but mine was a gift that was purchased by my brother in law (for my wife), so the receipt is back in Vegas.
