So, SkyDog, care to make the game more interesting?

I wish the Dawgs luck, but I doubt you'll get much trash talk from the Dawg contingency here. This has been a rough season, and a blow out wouldn't surprise me. I just hope Stafford doesn't have a real bad game and continue to progress.

Yeah, we're playing a good team, in a bad year. Our athletes are nearly as good as ever, but I have little faith in Richt. The silver lining is Bobo, though.

This is one of the games I wagered on during my recent trip to Vegas, taking Va Tech -3. I don't feel that great about it, though.

Do UGA fans think Richt could be on the hot seat if next season is as mediocre as this one? I ask because I am curious as to whether they would now let him go to FSU should Bowden retire after next season.

I don't know about a "hot-seat" (unless it was a losing record), but he might consider leaving for FSU if he it is another flat season with not much hope for a while.

I'll take the over, actually. No offense to the Hokie defense, loose memory has me thinking the dawgs blow up on Bowl games.

... loose memory has me thinking the dawgs blow up on Bowl games.

I'd say that's pretty accurate. 30+ points in 5 of their last 9 bowl games, only held under 20 in two bowl games in the past 20 years.

A friend of mine got 2 extra tickets, so looks like I may be going. This thing better not be a snooze-fest.

UGA defense holds 'em, and a decent opening drive by the Dawgs ends with a 3-0 lead.

They did not come out "flat" in this game. They are just getting their asses kicked by a better football team.

The SEC is the most overrated thing in America right now.

Damn is VT imploding. They're playing worse this half then they did in the first half against us, and that's saying something.

Also, Mark Richt is one of the 10 best college football coaches around, and he's not running a stinky program like Tressell or Carroll. So you Georgia guys lay off him. You're not getting somebody better.

I'll give you that - between Richt and Gailey, nobody in the state of Georgia has anything to be ashamed of from a quality-clean-program point of view.

My lord.. VT sure handed that game to Georgia. However, I don't think I've ever seen that many points put up (combined) by two team with such anemic offenses (yeah, yeah... I know, good defense, blah, blah).

Ben E Lou
12-30-2006, 10:38 PM
Vintage Chokies.Nah.

Both defenses played quite well. The Dawgs outgained 'em 206-188 on the day--not exactly an offensive explosion by either team. The score looked impressive for VT early, but the reality is that they scored twice on drives that started in UGA territory, and once on a trick play. Similarly, the Dawgs' defense created scoring situations in the second half. The bottom line in this one was that our D did a slightly better job of creating opportunities than did theirs. That's the difference between being #1 in the nation in defense against ACC competition, and #9 in the nation playing against SEC competition, I guess. ;)

gg, thoughHehe. Yeah, you could look at it either way, really. Like I said, neither team moved the ball well at all. We could argue all night whether the defenses created the mistakes, or the offenses screwed up. I'd argue the former in most (all?) cases. Off the top of my head, the VT INT of Stafford was a great defensive read followed by a great athletic play, and the Dawgs came up with a tipped-pass INT and a blind-side sack and fumble. I don't think you can lay heavy blame on either offense for those three plays.
