Due to forgetting a couple of times and general apathy, I haven't posted the NFL TV maps in a few weeks now. With the upcoming historic event of both networks doing doubleheaders this week, I figured that I might as well post the final maps of the season.
CBS (1PM ET):

I must say that I'm very shocked (and happy) that FOX is giving me SF-DEN instead of ATL-PHI. I understand that this isn't the Eagles side of the state, but it amazes me that the local station is picking up a game featuring two teams from out west.

FUCK
Looks like the assholes in Youngstown decided to show the Browns game instead of the Steelers one. Now I'll be stuck at work, watching the Browns lose. Not in HD of course, because in 2006 CBS still sucks at HD broadcasts.

Any clue about the odd blackout for the 4:15 CBS game in Wyoming, Nebraska and parts of Colorado? I understand the blackout in Denver for the 4:15 Fox game, but it certainly doesn't make snese for Wyoming and Nebraska to get blackouts, and the shape of the Denver blackout is odd to the say the least.
At least Fox is getting games with playoff implications for its second half of the doubleheader. Those second games on CBS are dogs that need to be put down.

Maybe that area of Wyoming has a high concentration of Denver fans ;). Maybe Elway is up there these days? :D

It could be that the only affiliate availible in those remote-ish areas is the Denver Fox station over cable...thus, you would be blacked out since the Denver affiliate may not show the game. I know when I stayed one night in Casper, there was only one local station that had a newscast, the rest were either Denver or Billings.

Yet again, no HD for the Ravens. I know they aren't always the prettiest team to watch but for a 12-3 team to be in HD 2-3 times for the season is a bit ridiculous.

NFL allows networks to present "double doubleheader"
By Associated Press
2006-12-28
NEW YORK (AP), For the first time, the NFL is allowing CBS and Fox to each televise two games this Sunday in many markets, meaning four games will be available to many viewers.
The so-called "double doubleheader" will be available in all markets except those in which the home team is playing.
They will receive a 1 p.m. EST game on both CBS and FOX, as well as a 4:15 game on both networks.
Normally, the networks alternate doubleheader weeks. The one with the doubleheader can show games at 1 and 4:15. The other network is limited to showing one game in one of those two time slots.
"With tight playoff races and so much interest in so many games, a Week 17 double doubleheader offers fans more football as they look ahead to the playoffs," said Howard Katz, the league's senior vice president of broadcasting.

pumpy...i much appreciate the NFL TV Maps on the weeks when I'm not working Sunday. It allows me to better plan my NFL viewing. Course the weeks I don't work we end up getting crappy games (SF vs. DEN? I think I'd rather see SD vs. AZ, k thanks?)

Makes you wonder if the ratings go up, they might consider switching to this format permanently It makes sense, especially considering the impact that the ocassional hosing caused when a team has a home game the week that the network they are on has the single game and that market only gets two games.

It did indeed, during the 1980's when the NFL anjoyed its huge growth period they had 2 games on both netwroks, then they started the sunday night games so we had 6 nationally televised games a weekend. At the end of the season they had 2 games on saturday as well so 8 of the games each of the last 2-3 weekends were available.
The NFL cut it back, I never understood why.
