I just did a 3 yr TEST on 2007 Combine numbers.
I dug out my "old dog eared" Skydog special draft chart.
40times ...Bench....Agility.

Its a whole new world.

Has anyone else looked at the combine numbers on how they relate to Drafting?
In the NEW WORLD CLASS FOF2007

What a mess this new stuff is. Gonna take some time to figure this all out or to decide just to ignore it.

Seems as if the same numbers might not be as reliable. But what does it matter? I've heard that 10-12 year vets take nosedives in offseasons. So, you can't really tell what you're getting at the front end? And then the back end comes quicker?

I'm having difficulty with assessing combine numbers. I've read SD and others talk about how they target guys with great combine numbers, but since I've been drafting with that in mind, I rarely if ever see guys in the mid-to-low rounds who are consistently above-average in enough of the combine categories that I think they are worth taking. The 1st or 2nd rounders, sure, they are easier to spot. But the real challenge is in the 3rd through 7th rounds.

And then when I do draft guys like that, they don't seem to develop since they are doing nothing but sitting behind my better backups, usually inactive. I don't like keeping them around for more than 2-3 years, and it kills me to give them bonus money when I can pick up a cheap vet FA who has better ratings. Just once I'd love to find the guy who comes out of the draft looking like a scrub but blossoms a few years later. How I find those kinds of guys by analyzing the combine numbers, I don't know.

It's not that I need these kinds of guys to do well in the game; it's just that the draft is a lot of fun, and I'd like to have more success drafting than I currently do, rather than rely on FAs and no-brainer high draft picks.

Not much sharing going on.
Maybe we shall re-visit this later.

For a brief moment, a chronic dynasty starter looked at this thread and thought about taking it in a different direction.
