For those who might be interested, there's a small event that has becomne an annual tradition at the York, PA library -- they call it "Fantasy Spring Training."

http://www.yorklibraries.org/martin/2007_Fantasy_Spring_Training/Index.htm

It's basically a three-hour sit-down with two or three big names in the baseball business. This year, they have guaranteed two returning speakers, Paul White from USA Today (who is an entertaining raconteur and one of those "well, the whispers around the league are that the guy just can't listen to his catcher..." types, who are generally very fun to listen to, if you like this sort of thing) and Ron Shandler from Baseball HQ (http://www.baseballhq.com), who I find to be the most insightful and thoughtful of the many prognosticators out there in this racket. (The fact that I draw a modest paycheck from Shandler should honestly not be seen as an influence over my recommendation here - I was a subscriber before I became a writer)

In any event -- these are similar to the "First Pitch" seminars that are starting to pop up in big cities, but out of tradition, this one is done every February at the York library for a $5 donation. As Mad magazine used to put it, super cheap.

Fantasy Spring Training

February 3, 2007
from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
at Martin Library in York, PA

I am almost certain to be there, and if anyone else here is interested in dropping by, just post it here... we can meet up for lunch or coffee beforehand or something of the sort, if you're interested (and talk about almost anything except fantasy baseball).
