I had a LB that played for me for 5 years. he had on ave about a 25 in red for various ratings. He played well so I kept him despite his low redlevels. When his contract was up I let him go for a younger player with lots of potential. ater training camp I checked the FA list. The LB was there, but when I clicked on him his red levels were on ave about 80, with several maxed out to 100. I didnt change scouts or coaches. Why the change? You would think 5 years in training camp would improve him, not 1 summer in no camp. anyone else seen this?

Year 5 seems to be when the games internal clock for deciding if a player is a bust or a stud goes off.

yeah, but this guy had zero green bars. He was supposedly maxed out on potential and ability, according to my scout and coach.then he vastly improved after being picked up FA

In year 5 some (very few) players will lose ability or gain ability, its somewhat rare, but I've seen a star reciever with maxed out abilities, coming off a 2,000 yard season, have his ratings drop to the point where he wasn't even a starter anymore. I've also seen QBs come out of nowhere and be one of the top 2 or 3 in the league. It all seems to be tied in with their 5th year.

that's idiot and not related to anything close to the NFL or what a "human athlete" can potentially do in his career.
So you can bring on pretty much ANY 4th year busts/ undrafted FA and wait for them to get into that marvelous 5th year and then, lucku you, you'll find yourself with a top2 player at his position all of a sudden, for no reason.
I am sorry to hear that FOF4 carries that "feature" because it's rubbish and makes the game unpredictable to a point where this is a total non-sense.

As long as it is a rare occurance it isn't so bad. Go ahead an take a chance on that 4th year player, but if 19 times out of twenty he tanks then I have no problem with it.

I just paid $24 mil for a 5th year RB in free agency. His numbers were 52 now and a potential of 75 later. I sign him and look at his numbers only to find out he was a bust in training camp. Now he's a 25-35 guy! Ugh! ;)
I kind of like it though...
