Have been reading thru the posts on the board in anticipation of buying the game.

Since I enjoy calling all my own plays 100% of the time, this aspect of the game is pretty important for my enjoyment.

I read two posts that caught my attention. Only about 10% call their own team's plays. The other talked about the late game AI where .."need to be up by 2 TD's in the fourth quarter because you can't stop the AI and it's extreamly difficult for your own team to mount any offense also."(Words to those effect).

Would appreciate any insights regarding play calling as I don't want to judge the game on just one comment or two. Don't want the AI be "brain dead" and make it to easy, but challenging and realistic with a few surprises once in a while.

I had the same concerns before purchasing the game, but so far my worries were unnecessary. I call all my plays and have completed two seasons (roughly 45 games with preseason.) I'd say the comebacks were split pretty much 50/50. I've also not had any issues with the CPU calling boneheaded plays.

Last season my defense finished in the top 6 or 7 which really surprised me because in year one I was at the other end of the spectrum and wondering if it was my team or just that I was calling plays.

I have played the FOF games since the very first one and I have recently started calling my own plays in this version (I'd messed around with it earlier but found it boring). I've really enjoyed it in FOF2k7. The AI is good....I haven't had too many problems with giving up comebacks but my team is built around defense and the running game so I can kill the clock fairly well.... I don't call plays on defense (because when I tried I failed), so I can't really vouch for that part of the playcalling AI.
