Pass Rush Technique vs. Strength

Which is more important? I assume technique, but not sure. I assume it might depend on whether or not the OL has a good strength rating also? I guess the question also applies to offensive line PB vs. BS.

Also, is a DT that's 78 PT, 0 PS a good pass rusher or a bad one?

Is an OL with a 16 PB, 66 BS better at pass blocking than one that is 66 PB, 16 BS?

I think technique is more important when looking at DEs and Strength is more important when looking at DTs.

I have always assumed that Technique gives you the opportunity, and strength seals the deal so to speak. So you get more chances to sack a QB with higher technique, but you will actually do it with a better strength.

No one knows for sure, but I am a firm believer that technique is way more important. It's the cake, and strength is the icing.

From personal experience, I think strength is more important. You might want to look at the old 2004 threads because I think there were some test done regarding which was more important.

That thread goes into detail on a test done back in the spring of 2005 that showed Technique (on both offense and defense) to be much more important.

Right now in my league with my friends, the league leader in sacks has 89 technique and 0 strength with 13.5 sacks through 12 weeks, while #2 is my DE with 79 strength and 30 technique and 12.5 sacks. So... I think they may be fairly even.

seems like most of the sack leaders in my solo leagues have high technique
