View Full Version : Alladin in Las Vegas?

I just saw a news item referring to Alladin in Las Vegas as Planet Hollywood. I then checked wiki and am still confused as to what is going with this property now. I knew that it was in bad financial straits from the beginning and then was sold to a PH consortium. Now I read that it's becoming a Sheraton? And that they are removing all of the desert motif and replacing with a Hollywood theme and the Miracle Mile shops? Don't we already have something like this with the MGM? Alladin, despite its financial troubles, was a great place to eat and shop, and I thought the Arabian motif worked (I liked themed places anyways). Anyone know more of what's going on here?

It's been part of the Starwood group of hotels for awhile, which includes Sheraton. I hadn't heard that it was going to be branded a Sheraton, though. Westin is also part of the Starwood group, and they have a property on the strip.
yep. the desert passage is being changed into a "Los Angeles Theme" thing and renamed the Miracle Mile. Changes and construction began last August.

It is gradually being transformed into a Planet Hollywood Casino-Hotel. I'm not sure how Sheraton is involved. I was there recently, and it's pretty disorienting, one area is all Aladdinized, and then suddenly it's Planet Hollywood a few feet away.

Angelinos have taken over every single club on the Strip. Do they need to transform all of the hotels and shops into their image as well?

Also, wasn't there a Planet Hollywood resort already in LV?

The strip is lame. Fremont Street is where its at.

There's a Hard Rock, I get those confused all the time.

Don't think so. I think just the PH restaurant in the Forum Shops.

If you are not into poker, there's only cheap shrimp cocktail and a really, really bad light show.

I think if you like to gamble at all, it's a bazillion times better. Plus there's bikini bull riding at Binion's.

They definitely had the hottest waitress outfits. I loved the "I dream of Jeanie" look they used to have. About the only cocktail waitresses that are hotter were at the Imperial Palace for some reason. I don't know if I have ever seen a waitress at the IP with that wasn't hot or below a D-cup. (This is weekend trips obviosuly, I don't think I want to know what the Tuesday day shift waitresses look like anywhere)

I loved the Aladin on my honeymoon because it was the only place where I could consistantly win and I am a sucker for Disney movies.
I believe the most important question hasn't been asked yet. What is to become of the Spice Market Buffet?

Well that's not only sad, but stupid. All the folks for SoCal that drive to Vegas aren't going there to see more of "LA".
This was my favorite hotel on the strip; had my favorite buffet (Spice Market), and by far had the best theme of any hotel. Guess I won't be going there again.

When I was there in August they had moved the buffet to a temporary location so they could renovate it. They said it would be back... who knows if it will be the same. I imagine it will be more expensive though so might as well just go to Bellagio.

I was there over Thanksgiving and ate at the Spice Market Buffet (on turkey day, natch). Deliciousness indeed. Tons of renovation going on on the outside and such, of course, and it seemed like it was probably in the temporary location. Though yeah, the Bellagio did trump it.
