When I pushed back the release of the game (which we're getting close to) I said that in doing so I would use the time to add some more new features - which I have done.
The website Digital Entertainment News has been kind enough to let me post a developer diary there so I decided to release these new features (and screens to go with them) in my dev diary.
http://www.dignews.com/feature.php?story_id=20380 is the link for anyone interested.
The three new features look incredible:
- Setting individual instructions for players: Largely demanded and I wanted them too, you made it even more realistic with the players wanting to accept the orders or not based on their personality, great addition.
- Replays of games in the 2D engine instead of just having game logs to read, this is huge for MP leagues!
- Plays designer: Good extra feature that will please a lot of fans.
Now release the damn game :P

I've never had a basketball sim before (well, except for the old Status Pro board game), and I'm not really even much of a fan -- but I'm interested in this game.

The key variable for me will be how well the 2d flows. I've been spoiled by FM, but if this game comes close, it will be hard to resist picking it up.

question:
You should have a home, road and alternate jersey for each team and should name them like team_home.gif, team_road.gif, team_alt.gif - they will be placed in a folder called "jerseys" in the graphics folder
does this mean the name would be like "Knicks_home.gif", or what? also, what color does the background have to be? transparent?

yes the background needs to be transparent and yeah that will work fine for the jersey name just so long as it corresponds with what is in the database you are using. If you're going to use the fictional teams that come with the game you will want to call it newyork_home.gif - if its a mod file you are using it depends on what it is called in the mod file.

Wow those look great HA! Thanks for putting those together

Even when I love it, I'm afraid i don't have a lot of time now to do mods for games. I'm betatesting two games for two different companies, helping a third one with their website redesign and some other stuff plus I have my own business to attend, my moding time is limited by now.
As I love Gary's games, I'll probably jump on trying to mod some of them later, but probably not now. Anyway i'm seing great stuff being done already, HA's courts are beatiful, can't wait for the game and mods (specialy a 06/07 roster set) to be released.
