02-07-2007, 11:13 AM
thanks kwhit, its one of the few time brackets ill be here for(classes most of the day) so im glad i got it in when i did.

If we can unvote, how can we get the other brackets? If we cant vote twice, the big teams have a huge advantage

KWhit
02-07-2007, 11:13 AM
So Swaggs has the next round. Who's available for the ones after that. We need to vote in every single round. I'll check my calendar and post the ones I can take in a minute.

Swaggs
02-07-2007, 11:15 AM
I think we can vote more than once. Just that all of us have to vote at some point.

Blade6119
02-07-2007, 11:17 AM
I can be here for sure for the last 2, and possibly the one at 5

KWhit

Yeah, we can only vote once per round.

KWhit
02-07-2007, 11:26 AM
I cannot make the one at 3:00. And I'm iffy on the one at 5:00 (should try to have someone else do it).

Blade6119
02-07-2007, 11:26 AM
Yeah, we can only vote once per round.

Blade6119

Swaggs
02-07-2007, 12:10 PM
I can't do the 3:00. I'll be at work.

Swaggs
02-07-2007, 12:17 PM
Damnit!

Screwed up the color on my first post. Hopefully he accepts the second post. I changed it to try and negate one of the other posts.

KWhit
02-07-2007, 12:28 PM
I don't think he'll accept it, but we'll see.

Swaggs
02-07-2007, 12:30 PM
I guess I was blocked anyway, so it doesn't matter.

I hope we at least get credit for all of us participating now, though.

Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 01:06 PM

Blade6119
02-07-2007, 02:01 PM
good job...next time say ive got it or you go, not im in....i had no idea if that meant me go or you. Thank god you went :)

Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 02:02 PM
Heh - sorry, was rushed though :)

Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 02:04 PM
What woulda sucked is if I had claimed to have it and then gotten third or something crappy

Blade6119
02-07-2007, 02:06 PM
lol, i think we have a nice strangle-hold on the lead right now. Swaggs getting 0 points hurt us, but other then that we have 3 firsts and 1 second. So we have 11 points, where i think second is back at 5-6. We need to pull high in two more events to luck it up for sure i think, and i can do them tonight. But not this afternoon

Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 02:07 PM
I was actually surprised to see you hear, I thought I was the only one who could get this time, so I was comfortable sniping it. Glad you were here, though, just in case.

Awsome job guys. So who has the next round? I can't do it.

I MIGHT be able to get back, though im not counting on it. I have a class until 2:55, and the time for the round is 3:00(all my times). So if i get out early i might, but thats a big if

Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 02:26 PM

Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 02:29 PM
Arlight, let's make it official so there are no questions. I will be taking 5. I will snipe as well, going off radar and I won;t even log on until it's time to make the vote

Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 02:29 PM
Right now, was the front runners, its mroe important for us not to be disrupted than to disrupt another.

Blade6119
02-07-2007, 03:44 PM
I totally agree, its best we just keep skating by, not getting into a fight with another team. We also want to avoid getting the most votes, which we seem to be doing

Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 04:00 PM
Feh - got second

Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 04:01 PM
Swaggs is starting to get some votes

Blade6119
02-07-2007, 04:02 PM

Abe Sargent

Blade6119

Swaggs, Anxiety?

Swaggs
02-07-2007, 08:26 PM
Blade, why don't you post this next time and I will hang out in the thread, since it looks like folks are trying to vote me off anyway. That way, we'll at least get the points.

Swaggs
02-07-2007, 08:28 PM
Actually, if KWhit is around, we can all help out by providing distractions for the other teams. If we can get some points this next deadline, we are in good shape to avoid elimination.

KWhit
02-07-2007, 08:29 PM

Swaggs

I think we should go to block Howard this turn.

If we can keep them from scoring, we ensure that we stay out of tribal council.

We wait until everyone else goes and then purposely vote last to negate Howard's vote?

Anyone? Ideas?

KWhit

Swaggs
02-07-2007, 08:56 PM

Abe Sargent
02-07-2007, 10:27 PM
I do not like losing :( I left thinking that we had the evening covered, popped back in at the 45 minute to confuse other teams, popped back out again, and wow, did we screw some pooch.

To be fair, I hit second twice when I might have been a half second faster or whatnot, and that extra point or two would have been worth soemthing. We all share blame on this one I guess.

hoopsguy
02-07-2007, 10:54 PM
What an incredible roller-coaster ride today had to be for your team. After a torrid start it all came apart down the stretch. What do you think happened? Did the other teams rise to meet your level, or did you take your foot off the gas?

Swaggs
02-07-2007, 11:22 PM
I actually think this is the second time in this game that we have been screwed by our lack of numbers.

And, I think it hurt us in two ways today:

First, only four players to cover a day when we had to be available for virtually the entire day. I know I have little to no internet access while at work and I know most, if not all, of our team works and/or goes to school full-time, so we were at a big disadvantage in that way.

Second, a one-in-four shot to negate our vote, since there are only four of us, as opposed to a one-in-five or one-in-six for the other teams, and it just clearly made sense, especially after we took the lead, for the other teams to key in on and try to disable us. The other teams figured this out early enough and then took advantage of it down the stretch to kill us.

hoopsguy
02-07-2007, 11:44 PM
What are your thoughts on Swaggs ending up with the most votes? Are you concerned about "something bad" happening to him?

Swaggs
02-07-2007, 11:45 PM
I am concerned, but also eager to find out what it is. Maybe it will somehow turn into a positive.

hoopsguy
02-07-2007, 11:47 PM
How do the presence of the idols impact your decisions for voting?

hoopsguy
02-08-2007, 12:00 AM
Also, there has been a lot of speculation about the presence of "werewolves" on this island. Do you believe that you would recognize one if you were to vote them off? After all, it isn't like voting them off means you cap them with a silver bullet ... our advertisers would never go for something like that.

Abe Sargent
02-08-2007, 12:05 AM
hoops since you are around, how come we are in council when we got the second highest score, not secodn lowest? I don;t understand that

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:06 AM
Im not crazy when i say evil is manipulating things...the team with idols that can harm evil is the team being conspired against...im not crazy, people really are out to get us...:(

Swaggs
02-08-2007, 12:07 AM
Right now, the idols are not a factor for me.

I'm probably going to see how tomorrow's challenge goes before deciding on who to vote for. It stinks in this game, because I really like all of the members of my tribe and like them outside the game, since I am very familiar with all of them as FOFC vets and I honestly don't think we have played a bad game up to this point. We have just been unfortunate with our numbers, as we need to run our games almost perfectly to win, whereas other teams can rely on their numbers to help them if they make mistakes.

I know I'll have to vote for one of three guys that I like and enjoy playing with and I am not ready to make the call on who yet.

Abe Sargent
02-08-2007, 12:07 AM

Blade, I don't doubt that the werewolves may be manipulating their teams, but I think the bigger motivation for voting against us is that the odds were higher that they would block one of ours, since there are only four of us. They had a 1/4 shot in blocking us, as opposed to a 1/5 or 1/6.

hoopsguy

OOC - I'm not entirely sure, as I read the post a couple of times to make sure I was talking with the right group and saw the same thing you cited with the scores. But I went with his text in both the thread and our AIM conversation from when I came back online post-deadline.

hoopsguy
02-08-2007, 12:15 AM
For the conspiracy-theory people out there - the two teams in tribal council are the team with the seer and the team who won the idols.

Do you think that the other teams should have soft-played against you based on this knowledge? If so, would reminding them of the idols during the daytime competition have helped or hindered your efforts?

Swaggs
02-08-2007, 12:17 AM
Guys, what do you think about Tyrith's explanation of running another account because he is into statistics? I am leaning towards thinking he has some sort of ability to read other tribes' threads (and yes, I am aware that he could/will eventually see this), and just screwed up by not logging out first. Thoughts?

I believe what he said. I can totally see someone clicking on the # of posts to see who was being active. And he probably didn't realize that it was wrong to do so. Borderline? Yes. But he probably thought to himself that he was okay because he wasn't reading their threads.

I'm sure he had no idea that when you do that it shows you as being in the thread. Which is why he got pissed off when AE started accusing him of cheating.

It is a crappy situation, but I tend to believe Tyrith.

Nah. I think that since we haven't seen ANY evidence of wolves yet that players have just been trying to win challenges. At least to this point, a player is MUCH more likely to be voted off at tribal council than to be eaten by wolves.

So it is super important to win the challenges.

KWhit

My concern is that once someone is voted off, they BECOME a wolf (or have a %chance to become a wolf). I don't have much to back that up, except that no wolf attacks have come yet, and I imagine they will now that we have voted some folks off the island.

Okay. Does #2 refer to AlanT?

Hey guys. Normal villager dude checking in. I don't think I need to post in blue in this thread, but I will just in case.

Kwhit is #2 on our list, and that was his first post...is that the post you mean?

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:12 PM
Blade, do you know what's going on?

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:13 PM
kwhit is also #2 in posts in our thread

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:13 PM
im working my way there kwhit, give it awhile and we will learn something im sure

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:14 PM
Swaggs was the #2 player to post in the thread. Is #2 you Swaggs?

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:15 PM
Swaggs, is #2 kwhit?

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:20 PM
The first part of the clue is just that Swaggs can't post in THIS thread.

We have that part solved now.

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:21 PM
So this:

I can help with something else.

Yes or no?

Does that refer to you helping us with our bidding?

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:23 PM
There also could possibly be more than one wolf per tribe if more than one volunteered

Does this mean that YOU (SWAGGS) VOLUNTEERED?

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:24 PM
What can you help us with swaggs?

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:25 PM
Swaggs - do you know the identity of a wolf?

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:25 PM
What can you help us with swaggs?

Has to be a y/n question.

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:26 PM
Do you know who volunteered?

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:26 PM
Do you know a wolf?

Do you know more about this challenge then everyone else?

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:29 PM
Would you say that your help in the challenge would be of significant value - above and beyond what a 'normal' person would be able to do?

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:29 PM
Can you communicate you help to us in a way the other tribes wont see it and be helped too?

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:32 PM
Kwhit, can i order you to post in this thread?

Kwhit, can i order you to be able to PM?

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:35 PM
Kwhit, can i order you to post in this thread?

Kwhit, can i order you to be able to PM?

huh?

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:36 PM
So swaggs, it sounds like you're saying that you can help us in the challenge today, but you have no real insider info that could give us a boost. Is that correct?

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:38 PM
Can you communicate via AIM?

Is all this work worth the effort im expending?

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:38 PM
Do you have any "inside" information about ANY subject that we need to try to get out of you today?

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:39 PM
Can you communicate via AIM?

I'm thinking not.

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:43 PM
Im voting swaggs today...i just wasted two hours i could have been doing the challenge to learn that he has absolutely nothing to offer us...

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:44 PM
Okay. So he can't post in this thread. That's about it.

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 12:49 PM
Ill be back later in the day...i have to go take a test...my vote is already in

KWhit
02-08-2007, 12:50 PM
So we need to start thinking about a bidding strategy. I'm going to be unavailable tonight from about 4pm on until at least 8 or so (maybe later).

Welcome everyone to our next Reward and Immunity Challenge. I think you'll notice that Tyrith has suddenly morphed into SnDvls. We're not quite sure how this happened, but we do welcome SnDvls to the mix.

When you are the bodyguard or a wolf there is a question of psychology. Who do you guard that night? Who should you attack? The most obvious person? But if they're so obvious does that really make them not obvious? And on and on this game of psychology can go.

Well today you all will be asking yourselves something similar. Each tribe is being allocated $29. Your goal as a tribe is to get the most points. There are 15 "places" you can bid on with different points. Those places are
A. Greater Werewolvia - 33
B. Middle Werewolvia - 14
C. Lesser Werewolvia - 20
D. Fleabit Cove - 11
E. Dogbonia - 10
F. Dog Ear - 12
G. Homidia - 15
H. Lupinia - 16
I. Garouvia - 25
J. North Canis - 17
K. Lake Wolfsbane - 18
L. South Canis - 29
M. Lower Fang - 23
N. Upper Fang -21
O. Alpovia - 13

Each tribe may spend some of their money bidding on a place. The highest bid wins. Tribes should submit to me their list of bids for each of the places by 10 PM today. The tribe with the most points will win the challenge, while the tribe with the fewest will head to tribal council.

Since information is life in this game the winning tribe will gain some new information. Each player on the winning tribe will get to ask, via PM, one of the following questions:
How many wolves are on tribe X?
How many wolves are in the game?
Does player X have an idol?
What was the vote total of tribe council for Tribe X? (For Lupus must chose one of their two tribal councils)
What will be the reward at tomorrow's challenge?

Survivors ready? GO!

Here's the post for reference.

Abe Sargent

There's only four teams, so it's very possible that some cities won't get much of a bid at all. Do you expect some team to bi at least one on each of them? We could bid two on every one except one where we bid one (or none and add that dollar to one of them, to raise the bid to three)

-Anxiety

KWhit
02-08-2007, 01:30 PM
I'd worry that we might lose on all of them if we did that. Seems to me that this is just going to be dumb luck.

Abe Sargent
02-08-2007, 01:39 PM
Well, I expect some team to do this:

Team A -
Bid one on every thing, bid higher amounts on ones that matter more

Team B -
Bid almost exclusively on many of the middle level ones

Team C - Bid a decent amount on some of the higher ones and try to pick up a few smaller ones as well to supplement

The "two per" strategy overraises strategy one, and if there is no strategy one then we pick up all of the unbidded things. Remember, there are 15 lots and just four teams. Each team should average around four lots each. the "two per" strategy could net us five or six lots, with a possibility for a lot more if one or more teams implement the Team A Strategy.

Remember too, this competition gets to ask one question of BK and that's it. It'd be nice, but we're not chasing immunity or idols or a seer or dodging a vote off or anything.

-Anxiety

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 01:53 PM
Well, wed be one short of the bidding 2 on all...the problem is i dont think we will overcome to top teams in doing so. Though we very well might, depending on how spread out they are...

This is an immunity challenge too.

KWhit
02-08-2007, 02:04 PM
Okay. How about something like this:

$0 A. Greater Werewolvia - 33
$2 B. Middle Werewolvia - 14
$3 C. Lesser Werewolvia - 20
$2 D. Fleabit Cove - 11
$2 E. Dogbonia - 10
$2 F. Dog Ear - 12
$2 G. Homidia - 15
$2 H. Lupinia - 16
$2 I. Garouvia - 25
$2 J. North Canis - 17
$2 K. Lake Wolfsbane - 18
$0 L. South Canis - 29
$3 M. Lower Fang - 23
$3 N. Upper Fang -21
$2 O. Alpovia - 13

I say we don't even go after the big one - let other teams chase it. I think teams may also focus on the 2nd highest item if they employ the same strategy that we are, so let's not even go after it either.

Then use our points to focus a little higher on the 2nd tier areas, but still have a ton of options so that we'll be bound to win (or tie) a few with 2 points on them.

Good points. If we are going to do this strategy, I think this is the best submission. In other news, I have my staff meeting in a few minutes, so this is the last post from me for a while. good luck!

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 02:49 PM

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 03:00 PM

Dude,

I'm just afraid it's going to come back and bite us in the ass when they find out you lied about it.

If it does, blame it all on me...i didnt distribute the idols, so i cant really be accused of giving them to just wolves or something. Thats the reason i wanted us all to have a hand in it, so we could all back-up each others stories if push comes to shove

Abe Sargent
02-08-2007, 08:24 PM
Okay folks, in a few minutes, the votes will be tallied, and I want to be totally up front on who I voted for and why. Swaggs I voted for you early, and here's why:

#1 - Of the four remaining players, the other two have a greater degree of availability than you do on a nomral day. If it's just three of us going it for a while, that'll be valuable.

#2 - I think they have the idols, based on what was said in the thread, so I'd prefer to vote for a non-idol person.

-Anxiety

KWhit
02-08-2007, 08:34 PM
So is anybody voting on anyone based on whether you think they're a wolf or not???

Swaggs, you said you think Blade is a wolf. Anyone else have any suspicions at this point? That's who we should be voting for.

Blade6119
02-08-2007, 08:38 PM

If they are, announcing it to everyone in the thread(and the suspected wolf), wouldnt be wise with a wolf kill tonight coming

Unless we can pool our votes and get him out before he kills one of us.

KWhit
02-08-2007, 08:44 PM

I hate it, but I think we need to vote for Blade tonight. I hate the position he put the whole team in when he lied about giving the idols to the team with the seer.

KWhit
02-08-2007, 08:44 PM
I unvoted swaggs and voted blade. You can do that. I confirmed it with BK.

KWhit
02-08-2007, 08:45 PM
Blade, I hate to do this. I thought you and I were going to have kind of an alliance from some earlier comments in the thread. But you put us in danger tonight.

KWhit
02-08-2007, 08:46 PM

But they are going to find out that we STILL have the idols tonight by asking the questions. One of the questions they can ask is who has the idols!

Abe Sargent
02-08-2007, 08:48 PM
Okay, I'll follow.

KWhit
02-08-2007, 08:48 PM

And momentum swings quickly on Survivor. The quick turn of events at the end of yesterday left this tribe in a bad spot today. Blade, it appears that you lost the trust of your tribe over the course of the day. I'm sure it is frustrating having to leave under these circumstances, but at least you will not be devoured by the so-called "werewolves" that are rumored to exist.

Lupus - I know that you have played to win from the outset of this game. But with shrinking numbers you are definitely going to have your work cut out to survive in the coming days. I hope that we do not have another fireside chat anytime terribly soon.

Swaggs
02-08-2007, 09:38 PM
Swaggs, I still don't understand something about today. Why did you say this:

What could you have done to help us if we hadn't screwed it up?

Paraphrasing here, but my interpretation was that if I could get you all to acknowledge what my punishment was before any of the others realized it, I would get a nondescript idol at the end of the day.

Which, I guess could have been good or bad, but considering that it was tribal council day, I wanted pretty badly and hoped could help us avoid a lynch.

KWhit

Okay folks, here si teh current text that we have for Text Sims:

A text sim is short for text simulation and is the common term for a type of computer game. These computer games attempt to simulate some aspect of the real world using text and numbers rather than graphics.

A common type of text sim is the sports text sim. Games in this genre include Championship Manager/Football Manager, NHL Eastside Hockey Manager, JumpShot Basketball, Out of the Park Baseball and Front Office Football.

I am currently redoing the introduction.

Abe Sargent
02-10-2007, 06:57 PM
The text sim (which stands for text simulation) is a type of electronic game that focuses on using a text based element to simulate some aspect of the real world. Text sims typically focus on creating as detailed a simulation of their object as possible, and therefore, other traditional game elements are often set aside in pursuit of creating an accurate simulation experience for the user. This pursuit of accurate simulation often comes at the expense of some or most audio or graphical elements. Numerous examples of soundless and graphic-light text sims exist.

The best selling text sim of all time is the Champioship Manager/Football Manager series, published by Sports Interactive games, sold in America as Worldwide Soccer Manager. This soccer text simulation is an advanced version of a text sim with a 2D graphical sim engine for soccer games.

There are several genres of text sims. The most popular may be the sports text sim. In addition to the above mentioned Football Manager, there are several text-based sim games in baseball, football, basketball, hockey, even wrestling. This genre is typically heavy is stats, and some games have been compared to spreadsheets with all of their detail to simulating the true environment of the sport. One of the flagship products of the sports text sim is Front Office Football, which is renowned for creating a very accurate experience as a general manager of a professional football team while also retaining a heavy statistical engine.

Another genre of text sims is the tycoon genre. Although early entrants in the tycoon genre were graphically based, such as Railroad Tycoon and later Roller Coaster Tycoon, a large number of tycoon clones arose. The tycoon genre focuses on a economic simulation of one or more commercial elements. Many recent budget tycoon games have more in common with text sims than the original games, often retaining graphics merely as an interface to appeal to the general audience. Examples of these games include Coffee Tycoon, where a player runs a coffee shop franchise; Hollywood Mogul, where the player creates and runs a movie studio; and Starship Tycoon where the player manages a merchant spaceship plying the trade routes in the future.

A third text sim genre is the political similulation. Political enterprises such as elections lend themselves well to the statistics-oreinted text sim gaming. These text sims often focus on elections, although a few chose instead to focus on the running on a country. Due to the nature of this genre, it often relies on a graphical interface, typically a map. However, the game information is delivered in a text-based format. Examples of this genre include The Political Machine and Power Politics, where the player tries to win an election for the American Presidency.

Yet another text sim genre is the real world simulation. These text sims try to manage a real world situation of some sort in a text based engine. Often this genre will try to use statistics to figure out some element of life. A recent example of this genre is Kudos, where a player simulates the life of a young person in their early twenties trying to decide what to do with life.

The genre is widening every year, as more and more developers release games, often about new areas. Although the typical statistics that text sims seem to favor might initially indicate certain endeavors as successes, game developers appear to be reaching out beyond these boundaries.

C'mon in everyone. You'll notice that ntn was voted off last night.

Today's challenge is a simple reward challenge. In Werewolf you must learn to think like others. Knowing how to predict people's actions and thoughts gives you a large advantage, especially as a wolf. And so for this challenge we'll be playing a game of "Family Feud".

I surveyed people about various questions. Who I surveyed is a little different for each question and is noted. I multiplied the actual answers so each question had a possible 100 points (so if I surveyed 20 people, and you guess an answer which got 2 responses, you'll get 10 points). At least two people had to list an answer in order for it to appear on the board.

Questions were:

30 library patrons in the Youth Services section of a library were asked: Which is the best Harry Potter book? (6 answers)

40 fourth graders were asked: What is your favorite food? (5 answers)

20 teachers were asked: Which movie will win best picture? (5 answers)

20 poker players were asked: Who is the best poker player? (4 answers)

30 adults (combination of library patrons and teachers) were asked: What time do you get up in the morning (to the nearest half hour)? (6 answers)

The winning tribe will receive the ability to stay strong for a couple of the tribulations which await you. Survivors ready? Go!

Some random thoughts:

I'm thinking it will be the 1st or last book (or possibly Goblet of Fire, since that was the most recent movie released).

I'd personally say the best was the last: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. But I'm afraid that people may not remember the name of it and just answer something easier like the first one - HArry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

Pizza?

20 teachers were asked: Which movie will win best picture? (5 answers)

The Departed?

20 poker players were asked: Who is the best poker player? (4 answers)

Phil Helmuth (even though people hate him, his name jumps to mind immediately) or Scotty Nguyen, or Daniel Negreanu (his name isn't easy to remember though...)

30 adults (combination of library patrons and teachers) were asked: What time do you get up in the morning (to the nearest half hour)? (6 answers)

I would say 6am (or maybe 6:30).
