3 Fights by the end of the first period? They should just sign the two of them and have interperiod boxing matches to keep the crowds entertained..
While the scoring was spread out, most of the fighting fell to the Jackals' Curtis Tidball and his former teammate -- and roomate for two days -- Chad Wilcox, who was signed by the Generals on Friday. The two played last season with Thetford Mines Prolab of the Quebec Senior League.
Tidball and Wilcox, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound left wing, traded punches three times Saturday -- the first time before the game even began as the teams came out on ice for warm-ups.
"Chad Wilcox was coming out of the gate and I was down at the blue line. We sort of bumped shoulders, and the next thing I know he's coming back across the red line, and he's in for trouble after that," Tidball explained. ""We used to be roommates. I never liked the guy."
Tidball and Wilcox went at it again 2 seconds after they came out of the penalty box. While in the box, Tidball gestured toward Wilcox.
The third round came with 8:10 left in the first period, with Tidball getting the better of it. He swept his hand around his waist as if he were putting on a championship belt as he left the ice with a game misconduct as the announced crowd of 3,781 cheered him on.
