I have a professional organizational meeting tonight at 7:00 PM. I get out of work at 4:30 PM. Normally, I would race home after work and relax after a long week of work as I'm usually drained on Friday. Friday night traffic is usually the worst of the week and I usually don't get home until between 5:00 and 5:15 PM. The meeting at 7:00 PM is very close to where I work and will probably take 20-25 minutes to get to if I go all the way home. I'm torn on my choices:
1. Go Home for about an hour to 90 minutes.
Advantages: I forgot to submit a mid-week export in my 2 FOF 2k7 leagues. The meeting may go late enough that I won't get to do this if I don't go home. I get to eat a presumably healthier meal at home with my wife.
Disadvantages: More time driving back and forth in traffic. Waste of gas. Only about an hour or so that I will get to be at home. If it was 2 hours or longer this would be an easy choice.
2. Go hang out at a sports bar for an hour or two.
Advantages: Minimizes time wasted driving back and forth in traffic and resulting gas wastage. I haven't been to a sports bar in a while.
Disadvantages: High chance of missing mid-week exports (not that I plan on doing much of anything in either of them.) Less healthy food at bar. Not sure if there will be any worthwhile sports on to strike up conversation about.
3. Go to local book store spend a few minutes browsing and then grab dinner at a local restaurant.
Advantages: Likely a bit healthier fare than the bar. Might find a good book or two that I want to read. No wasted gas or time traveling back and forth.
Disadvantages: I'm not a fan of eating alone at a restaurant. Missed mid-week exports most likely.

Sports bar. Spending extra time in traffic sucks ass. And I think that a bar is an easier place to kill time by yourself than a bookstore and a resturant.

I vote for #2. But any chance your wife can meet you out for dinner if it's only 20 or so minutes away (assuming traffic is fine in the other direction)?

Book store for sure. It is no longer football season. So unless you are a hardcore basketball fan, and can watch any game, then maybe a sports bar. But I tend to lose a lot more time in a bookstore. And if you don't like being alone in a restaurant, a good book can be a great companion.

Last thing I want after work is more noise... without one of my teams playing and barring a major sports event, I'd take the book store 99/100 times.

My wife hates rushed dinners and takes forever to decide on what she wants. With the time constraints of the meeting's starting time, I don't think that would be a wise choice.

oh--and who the hell schedules an office meeting for 7:00 on Friday evening?
(My apologies if it was you who scheduled it)

No, it wasn't me. It's actually not an office meeting but a meeting of the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association which is a state branch of the American Psychiatric Association. Unfortunately, they historically have their meetings on Friday nights at 7:00 PM (usually every other month) since it is the only time that everyone involved seems to be off work. I've gone to them periodically (usually every other one) throughout the years, but I'm a recently elected officer (term starts in June of 07,) so I feel like I better go to all of them now. However, I really hate the timing of them, especially since they usually run 2-3 hours long.

Get that export in. Plus spend time with your wife.
And if you are an officer, it is imperative that you convince this group to meet in a sports bar or restaurant so you can combine food with the meeting, 'cause that time sucks.
Book store is your best option #2.

Where a buck's enough to see their stuff...at the nudie bar.
Where the music stinks, and they water the drinks...at the nudie bar.
Where the breasts are fake but man do they shake...at the nudie bar.
Where you swear like a sailor, and wish you could nail her...at the nudie bar.
Where you see their butt, and their trap stays shut...at the nudie bar.
Where you can't touch a breast, but you can cave in a chest...at the nudie bar.
Where the beer gives you gas, but the Bundy's kick ass...at the nudie bar.

Alright, I'm now having a serious brain infarct re: FOF? Is the game going to screw me over for having more than 60 guys on my roster in pre-season. I'm 99% sure that it won't, but there is some nagging thing in the back of my head that says it will. Otherwise, I should fine with activating guys and inactivating as needed during the actual game export.
I'm only going to be a treasurer, but if I ever become President, that will be one of my first motions.

If you have a game scheduled for the sim, and you have ANY part of your roster invalid, FOF will let the scout fix your roster. There has never been any evidence that it does the minimum necessary to fix it, but rather that it basically turns on all the roster-management AI and lets it go at it. So you could end up anywhere from a couple of guys cut to get down to 60 to people dropped and signed and changed positions to make your roster look like the AI wants it to.
Your biggest fear would have to be that the AI decides Bigsbee is the man and cuts Tyrus as unneeded deadweight.

Ok. That settles that debate ;) (For some reason, I was thinking I was in no danger since this is a FA stage, but I'm not willing to take that chance.)

You are in no danger since it is an FA stage (brain fart myself earlier forgetting that tonight is an FA stage). Note the part where I started off with "If you have a game". No game, so no problem.
I still think you'll be happy you spent the hour with your wife, though.

Yeah, a book is basically a necessity for eating alone. I'm also not a fan of eating alone, but I just spent a number of weeks traveling alone almost exclusively, so it resulted in getting used to eating alone damn fast.

Despite rain, traffic wasn't bad at all tonight which was nice.
File submitted. Time to go spend an hour with my wife :)
