In a player's profile, when you check the "No special teams" button, does this mean that you're going to exclude the player from special teams, or does this mean that you're switching it from no special teams and therefore allowing him on special teams?

Its not very clear which way it is in the game, and I'd prefer not to break Roy Williams collarbone in my first preseason game by accidently sending him out on kick coverage.

when you check the "No special teams" button

means that you're going to exclude the player from special teams

That's how it works.
You can double check by looking in the second player information pane...it will say "Special Teams Encouraged" or "Not Encouraged" right under the scouted rating.

Oh, I thought that 2nd part was saying if the player wanted to play special teams or not.
