After checking herself out of rehab and slumming it in coach on an American Airlines flight back to L.A., Britney Spears had something to prove.

As soon as she landed, Brit stopped at a Tarzana salon and asked them to shave her head (http://www.tmz.com/2007/02/17/britney-shaves-her-fand-ing-head/). When the hairdresser refused, a source says Spears "grabbed the hair clipper and started doing it herself," reports Us Weekly (http://www.usmagazine.com/britney_spears_rehab).

Then she jetted over to Body & Soul Tattoo in Sherman Oaks, where employee Emily Wynne-Hughes says the singer was agitated and a "nightmare" to deal with. When asked about her new 'do, an exasperated Britney told Hughes, "I don't want anyone touching me. I'm tired of everyone touching me."

Her two new tattoos -- a black, white and pink cross on her hip and red and pink lips on her wrist -- cost $80. During the one-hour visit, the employee noticed a stain on the singer's white handbag, and Brit explained she had "spilled Nyquil all over it."

The employee says it was clear that the fallen pop princess was "on the verge of a nervous
breakdown."

I knew this asian chick in college who shaved her head. She actually didn't look too bad (not great...but not too bad). She's been the only chick I've known, though, that could pull it off. Most chicks just look really weird bald.

No woman looks good bald. Men that claim to lust after bald women may secretly like men.

Wrong.

There are many women who look good bald. It takes the right kind of face to pull it off, but the chick in Star Trek looked good bald, Sinead O'Connor, Natalie Portman, both Sigourney Weaver and Demi Moore pulled it off nicely, there was that one really hot bald chick in "The Fifth Element."

I've spoken many times on this subject before (and consistently might I add)...

A true measure of a woman's beauty is if she can look good with short hair. Or, dare I say, bald. (Oh, I think do dare. I must certainly do...)

Sinead O'Connor back in the day.
I think it works for Natalie Portman.
Both Demi Moore (GI Jane) or Sigourney Weaver (Alien 3) looked pretty good.
There's this model, Eve Salvail, who had a bit part in "The Fifth Element" (she played one of the aliens when it was pretending to be human to get on the shuttle) who looks good bald (though I've got mixed feeling about the tatoo of a dragon on her head).

Psh. I've always liked the "bald chick" look when done right. It takes the right type of face, long and angular, chubby or round certainly doesn't work. Natalie looks great. Sinead was a beauty and there was that bald chick in "Fifth Element." She was nice.

cuervo72

I'll agree with H_B here. If a woman looks good bald - and it's possible - then that's a truly good looking woman. IOW, hair can make a lot of flaws less noticeable.

This is fairly interesting - a writer from EW.com looks back on a 2001 interview of Britney when she was on top of the world...

After an hour or so, I asked her to imagine how her charmed life could go wrong. At the time, she had No. 1 records, fame, millions of dollars in the bank, and Justin. What would happen if, 10 years from now, they decided to make a VH1 Behind the Music episode about her? What would the detours and missteps have been? How would she have fallen from grace?

Britney looked at me like I was insane.

''Oh... my... God!''

After thinking it over for a minute, she unspooled the Britney crash-and-burn.

''First, the worst thing that could happen is if my boyfriend would break up with me. I would be totally devastated,'' she said. ''And then, after the depression, maybe I did some dorky movies that were just bombs. Then... I don't know, maybe I did another album that didn't do very well. And then, I went back to working at my granny's deli — back to rolling quarters and boiling crawfish and smelling like fish on my dates.''

Britney exhaled, then broke into a fit of giggles. It was the only unscripted moment of the interview. And when she was done with her worst-case-scenario response, she gave me a look as if to say, ''That was fun!''

Oops, she did it again!

Britney Spears and rehab just don't mix.

The hard-partying singer, 25, checked out of her second rehab stint at Malibu's posh Promises Wednesday morning, after 24 hours.

Last week, she left a facility in Antigua within 24 hours, as well.

"She has left two programs and that's gravely concerning," says Drew Pinksy, medical director for the Department of Chemical Dependency Services at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena. "You have to meet certain criteria to get admission and she was sick enough to be admitted, so you know you have a severe addict on your hands. And an addict that bolts is a horrible prognostic sign because it means she is too impaired to listen to a professional — the sickest patients are the ones who leave against medical advice."

How frequently do people abandon two separate programs within 24 hours?

"It's not common but it happens," says Pinsky. "Somebody who's bolted twice within 24 hours is pretty uncommon. Usually people bolt within five to seven days because they can't tolerate the misery of withdrawal."

Pinksy advises Spears to "turn your car around and go back."

Meanwhile, various publications are wondering exactly why Spears shaved her head last Friday.

"It's definitely a sign of a problem and the court's going to look at it oddly," says Joshua Forman, a matrimonial/family law expert and a partner at New York's Chemtob Moss Forman & Talbert law firm. "It definitely doesn't make her look good. And I don't want to cast aspersions, but one way of doing drug testing is a hair test. The courts don't like when people come in with shaved heads unless there's a reason."

No word who watched Spears' two kids, Sean Preston, 17 months, and Jayden James, 5 months, during her brief stint in the treatment center. They are "being well taken care of," Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, tells People.

Spears and her estranged husband Kevin Federline, 28, have agreed on a temporary custody arrangement for the boys, with Spears having primary custody and Federline getting visitation.

Once a pop princess, Spears has been making headlines recently, most notably by shaving her head herself at a salon in the San Fernando Valley Friday night. On Sunday night, she was spotted out in Hollywood in a blond wig.

What is she trying to rehabilitate — herself or her image?
Experts wonder whether her move to enter rehab was truly an effort to help herself — or to rehabilitate her tarnished image.

"It is a crisis-management tool," says Terence McPhaul, a counselor and author of The Celebrity Psyche.

Entering some kind of facility has become a familiar path for stars lately. Country star Keith Urban just wrapped up a three-month stay for substance abuse. And Grey's Anatomy's Isaiah Washington sought help after repeating a homophobic slur.
In January, Lindsay Lohan, who was spotted with Spears in Los Angeles in November, checked into Wonderland Center in Los Angeles' Laurel Canyon. Though the duration of Lohan's program is unclear, the 20-year-old actress was spotted at Les Deux and Area clubs in L.A. in early February, and on Monday, she was photographed leaving the Hollywood hot spot Winston's.

Spears and Lohan are both child stars who may have never learned to cope with adult problems. Spears, McPhaul says, "has been working for a very long time, and there are steps in her development she has skipped over."

Michael Cartwright, CEO of Malibu's The Canyon at Peace Park, where the average stay is 60 days, hopes Spears is in for the long haul and not in an outpatient or short-term facility, like Lohan was. "We're seeing that if people don't stay for 60 to 90 days in treatment, there's a higher likelihood they're going to relapse," he says.

How will custody be affected?
Spears has kept gossip columnists busy since November, when she filed for divorce from Kevin Federline. The two share custody of sons Sean Preston, 1, and Jayden James, 5 months, and rehab could influence the custody battle. Rehab, says Joshua Forman, an attorney and matrimonial/family law expert, is "a good thing because it shows that a person is trying to get over whatever demons they have. It's a bad thing because it shows they have a problem."

Neither Spears' nor Federline's camps would say who is caring for the children. Forman says: "Most likely, they're with the mother and the nanny, but where's Kevin? This could cause a huge problem for her if he goes to court and says, 'I want my kids.' "

Rehab could prove beneficial for Spears professionally. She has been intermittently recording a new album, and to get her career back on track, says Vibe music editor Jon Caramanica, Spears needs to speak to her fans through her music.

"There's a significant demographic that would be interested in some more insightful music," he says. "If she comes out stronger, smarter and self-aware and makes something of it, that could be a winner."

Just to jump in on the "Can women look good bald" topic...

For me, I can't think of any woman I've seen bald that I didn't think looked better with hair. Sure, Sinead O'Connor, Natalie Portman, Persis Khambatta - all of them when they were bald, you could look at them and see that they had very attractive faces. But each one of them I thought looked better with hair. With Portman it was easy, since we'd all seen her with hair before. But when Sinead wore a wig in the video for "You Do Something to Me", that confirmed that she could be a world-class hottie with hair. And seeing Persis Khambatta at the Academy Awards after Star Trek: The Motion Picture with hair, it was "Wow - she's damn hot!"

Britney 'attempted rehab suicide'

From correspondents in London
March 05, 2007 01:00am
Article from:

BRITNEY Spears has flipped her lid in rehab, trying to hang herself with a bedsheet after screaming "I am the anti-christ" to frightened staff.

She made the demonic cry after scrawling the devil's number "666" across her head.

Spears's manic behaviour has concerned relatives who once again fear for her safety, and has staff at the Promises Clinic in Malibu, California struggling to cope.

The former chart-topper's troubles have been revealed in Britain's News Of the World, which broke the exclusive story.

Within days of her suicidal behaviour, Spears - who was in and out of rehab before shaving her own head and later attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella - was begging estranged husband Kevin Federline not only for a reconciliation, but demanding she wanted to soon have another baby.

The ordeal began when she terrified staff by writing the number of the beast on her head and running around the clinic screaming, "I am the anti-christ!"

"The clinic people just didn't know what to do," a friend claimed.

The pop star then tried to hang herself with a bedsheet was but was found before she could hurt herself.

This whole story will look pretty foolish if it turns out that she is the anti-Christ.

Magazine to make disastrous day with Spears public

NEW YORK (AP) -- Britney Spears has spilled her story to OK! magazine.

In a statement to celebrity news Web site TMZ, OK! Editor-in-Chief Sarah Ivens said the magazine had "spent a heartbreaking day with Britney Spears and witnessed first-hand an emotional cry for help that will leave you shocked and sad."

"This week, on newsstands Friday, the truth will be told," Ivens said.

The statement was posted Tuesday on TMZ's Web site. A day earlier, TMZ said it had "learned that Britney's self-arranged photo shoot and interview with OK! Magazine was a complete disaster" and that her behavior during the interview was "nothing less than a meltdown."

OK! publicist Brian Strong said the magazine wouldn't publish photos of Spears (http://topics.cnn.com/topics/britney_spears) from the shoot due to legal reasons. He said OK! would deliver "a very real account" of its interview with the 25-year-old singer.

The Associated Press was attempting to locate a representative for Spears.

Earlier this month, Spears apologized for attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella in February, saying at the time she was preparing to try out for a movie part and got carried away.

The incident took place during the same period in which Spears shaved her head, got new tattoos and was seen partying hard in Los Angeles clubs.

Not long after, the erstwhile pop star, more recently derided as a pop tart for her highly public forays into midnight carousing, checked into a monthlong stay in rehab.

Spears filed for divorce from aspiring rapper Kevin Federline in November, just two months after giving birth to the couple's second child, Jayden James. Their older son, Sean Preston, was born in September 2005.<!--startclickprintexclude-->

This is a double-whammy for QS. Not just a story about a celeb/twit, but the thread title is purposely ambiguous. This could drive him over the edge.

throw in a puzzle involving skank hos and news of the extinction of the Eastern Wood-Pewee and this thread is a homerun.
