Just a heads-up for you guys: If you go to EBGames or Gamestop and buy a PC game, they'll sell you City of Heroes or City of Villains for a penny. For those who aren't aware, both of those games are MMORPGs with a monthly fee, but the first 30 days should be free, so at least you get a month to try it out, and it only costs you a cent.

Honestly, I was skeptical when I first read about it, but there's signage in the store for the deal, and I also took advantage of it myself. I bought Titan Quest for $19.99 and got City of Villains for a penny. The in-store signs actually say that you can get the game for free, but it turns out that the game rings up on the register for $0.01.

They might not have CoH and CoV out on the shelves. At my Gamestop, they had the games stored in a drawer and only took one out because I'd asked about it as soon as I walked in.

I don't know if this deal will appeal to anybody, but it's there if you want it. Good luck.

I knew "CoH" was a bit ambiguous. :)

I've been very pleasantly surprised by Titan Quest. I've already put more time into it than I put into Diablo 1 and 2 combined.

Sweet deal...I wonder if I were to to this if it would get me 30 days on a new account whenever I activated it (been playing for 18 months, and my son wants me to get another account so I can team with him).

I'm not sure whether I'll play it or give it to my wife, but for $19.99, I couldn't pass it up. Your earlier posts on FOFC kinda inspired me to choose Titan Quest as my purchase today. :)

Yep, it should work just fine. As long as it's a new account, the free 30 days should be in effect from the time you sign up.

From the CoH boards:

aye, i work at gamestop, we are not carrying coh/cov anymore, only the GvsE edition. I already bought a 4.99 game and got coh and cov free, so it was only like 3 bucks for both games with my discount. bwhaha.

Might need to do this...

For the record, I don't think they'll let you have more than one of the games if you go, even if you buy more than one game. This is just from what I read on the Cheap Ass Gamer forums. I didn't try to get both games because I already had City of Heroes.

Another poster at CoH:

Yep. If you pick up both games and Upgrade one game with the other code, in addition to the benefits of having both CoH and CoV (such as 12 slots per server), you'll get a second month free.

I stopped at the EBGames in G'Burg on the way home and got CoH (last copy on the shelf). They had 3 for CoV, I'll probably stop and get one of those later too...or I'll hit one of them in Frederick.
