So I filed both my federal and state (VA) taxes online using TurboTax online (through Fidelity if that makes any difference). I e-filed both as well.
Now I've gone back to TurboTax online and it says: "Your Virginia state tax return (Form 760) shows a balance due of $XXX.XX. Mail your completed Form 760-PMT with attached payment made payable to the ’Virginia Department of Taxation’ by May 1, 2007. Make sure you sign your check and write your social security number and "2006 Form 760-PMT" on the check."
Since I filed with a direct debit from my checking account, does this apply?
It also says: "Sign and date Form VA-8453 within one days of acceptance."
Of course then it says on the Form VA-8453: "DO NOT SEND THIS VA-8453 TO THE VA DEPT. OF TAXATION OR THE IRS. IT MUST BE MAINTAINED IN YOUR FILES!"
So I'm confused. I don't think I need to send the payment form because I've got it paying through direct debit (at least that's what I told it to do). Then it says to send VA-8453 and then says not to.
Help?
