Following along the lines of yesterday's question, what is the most under-rated band (all genres and all time periods)?
I'll have to go with my all-time favorite band, Pavement. They definitely deserved more reknown than they got, but I'm kind of glad they were never really popular since my opinion of most pop music is less than favorable.

Besides Rush? :)
I would go with Living Colour and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Awesome musicians in my opinion.

Oh I really like Living Colour...
I don't know, I guess the most under-rated band would've been the Ramones, heavily influenced many many bands that went on to be more successful...

If it weren't for one darn scratched record Milli Vanilli would have been huge...

*Warning This Is a Thread Jack*
Sorry but I just have to tell you about my lunch yesterday at school. (It has something to do with this:) ) This is just another "Question of the Day" question. My friends and I are talking about Michael Jackson and all of the stuff that has surfaced recently. We are 15 year olds and one of my friends (He is large and very funny) says, " Would you let Michael Jackson molest you for 13 million dollars?"
It was the funniest thing I had heard in a long time. Very distrubing, but funny. Now you all can continue. Nothing to see here. :)

Good choice.
I want to say Jeff Buckley, but it's a function of his death that he never achieved greater status. I think it was coming.

I think Mudvayne is pretty underrated.

I like Guadalcanal Diary too, but my choice is a toss up between Dash Riprock (the best band I have ever seen live) and Game Theory. Game Theory had an album called Lolita Nation that I would pay bucks for a copy on CD (not sure if was ever published via CD). The very best band no one has ever heard of. Imagine Smashing Pumpkins meets No Doubt.
Wait a minute, I just changed my mind. My real choice is the Replacements. No one can top their great classic song "Gary's Got a Boner."

There was a band that toured around Texas and Oklahoma a while back. They broke up and then reunited but apparently they only play in Austin now. They are Cadillac Voodoo Choir, or CVC, and they're pretty badass. Kinda southern rock sounding, use some horns, keyboards, lots cool stuff. I guess I gotta make it down to Austin, since it's been way too long since I've seen them play...
