The first Dark Tower comic book came out last month, and I missed it?

Crap.

No worries, if your local shop is anything like mine, there are still roughly 1000 copies on the shelf.

Which would be wonderful if my local shop hadn't gone out of business six months ago.

I snooped around online and found a place that had issues 1 & 2 in stock, as well as the ability to 'subscribe' to the remaining five, so I'm okay.

I just can't imagine how the release of the first issue slipped past me when I've been watching for it since it was first announced.

I vaguely remember hearing about these. But if you could refresh my memory...are these a re-hash of the novels or are they a continuation? Roland between W&G and TG, perhaps?

Jeebs, as far as I can tell they're a flesh-out. The series is called "The Gunslinger Born," so my guess is that we mostly see Roland either in his youth or his early gunslinging days.

I'm curious if this means we'll see Roland's action in the war against the Good Man. Either way, I can't wait for my first two issues to get here this week.

Sounds like something I would definitely be interested in. Now I just gotta figure out where there's a comic book shop nearby...

Thanks, Josh!

Dola-

What was the site you found? That might be the easier way to go...

Jeebs, I ordered the sketchbook and books #3-#7 from a store out in Illinois, http://www.g-mart.com/ .

The only drawback with them is that the price of the books is based on their availability. Book #1 they were into 'medium' availability this morning, and had one copy left earlier this afternoon. So it went from $8 to $15, and the cover price is normally $4.

Book #2 was still regular price, and ordering a subscription for the rest (I had to email them to have #3 added to the subscription, which is currently #4-#7) gets you regular price, so that's the way I went - ordered the #3-7 subscription, and went to another website to buy books 1 and 2.

There was a site that had those first two listed at $1.99, but they were sold out of #2, so I ordered #1 and #2 from fdestination.com instead.

Also, fwiw, fdestination.com had the first two for $3.79 each, so I saved a little bit getting those two there.

Also, since your comic shop is out of business, Captain America is still dead.

I knew that months ago.

Just ask hoopsguy.

Midtowncomics.com out of New York is a great place to get books. They have both issues of the Dark Tower for $3.39 each.

My copies of books 1 and 2 shipped today, priority mail, from fdestination.com.

So I should have those in time for my day off Wednesday.

As Wade said, I got 'em. My shop was actually out of issue #1 when I went to get it for Wade, but he said they were getting more in the next day and would throw it into my box.

Did you snag the free sketchbook? I really have no use for it, but free + Dark Tower = combination I'm not entirely sure I could've resisted had I tried.

That is so not fair.

I ordered from fdestination on Monday as well, and apparently mine haven't come yet. :(

But only one day closer.

Ha!

Ralph Macchio? WTF?

It's not that Ralph Macchio, is it?

Edit: Ok, after a Wiki search I see it isn't. Whew...

Double dola-

OK, or an Orlando Palmeiro two run single.

Sorry, not meaning to threadjack, but this seems to be working or something.

I love random midnight email checks with an email that says "Hey, you have a package coming!"

Of course, it's a little strange to GET that email at midnight, two days before a major postal holiday, but hey. Beggars, choosers, etc.

JeeberD
07-03-2007, 08:23 AM
That reminds me that I need to resend them my cc info. I forgot to do it last month, so I'll actually have two issues coming...

SackAttack

I had Issue #6 and Issue #7 show up today. I wonder what's up with that. I got an issue in July, so I wonder if it's just a matter of "I started my subscription a month late, and they're just catching up," or what?

SackAttack
09-10-2007, 05:48 PM
So I just got notified that a delivery is coming, but I have issue #7 already courtesy of that double delivery, and the next one isn't scheduled until February.

Anybody know what's up?

SackAttack
03-10-2008, 04:29 PM
That last one ended up being a kind of...compendium? Encyclopedia? Something. Just sort of a 'companion book.'

I just got notified I've another shipment on the way. I wonder if the new series is starting this month?

kurtism

New book was out last Weds.

SackAttack
03-10-2008, 06:40 PM
That'd be it, then. Awesome.

The comics shop I have my subscription with doesn't tell me WHAT'S coming, only that something IS coming.

SackAttack
08-06-2008, 01:00 AM
So apparently The Stand is starting up in comic form.

That's going to be interesting; don't know if it's going to tell side stories or if it's just going to be a graphic novel form of the...good God, it just occurred to me how many issues of the comic it would take to TELL that story.

Little bit of thread necromancy here, but in sorting through comics deliveries I hadn't gotten around to reading yet, I discovered that the Marvel Dark Tower series ended last summer.

There should be hardcover omnibuses for those who want to read them but are late to the game.
