View Full Version : Hot or Cold Water?

Due to circumstances beyond my control (a fritzing thermocouple), I don't have any hot water tonight and I really wanted to shave. I'm not the world's most experienced shaver. I shave maybe 5 or 6 times a year because I'd rather wear a beard than shave every day.

Anyway, when I *do* shave, I normally use hot water, but I've found that I sort of dig the cold water thing. What are the rules on this? Are you supposed to use cold water because it tightens your pores or hot water because it opens them up? I honestly have no idea, and I don't think it really matters in terms of the quality of the shave.

So the question is: when you shave with a blade, do you prefer hot or cold water?

Electric shaver much? Even at 6 times a year, a worthwhile investment.

Electric razors are a pain in the ass when you're shaving off a beard.

I would rather have a cat shave me with it's paws than shave with cold water.

I never tried with cold water. Something about it is just wrong... like using a woman's razor or something.

I go with warm water- not cold, but I don't want it hot either.

Uhh... so you shave about every other month? I'm curious as to how long your beard is... anywhere close to Cringer's?

My beard grows pretty slowly. It takes me two days to get a five o'clock shadow. :)

I knew there was a reason about pores why I used warm (i.e. hot but not too hot) water instead of cold water.
