Hi,
Well I've finally made it over to Florida and am now officially a resident of America ... unfortunately I'm still 110% on English time and have been happily up and roaming the house since 2am ....
I've got a few days to settle in and ensure everythings sane before I have to get back to working - no rest for the wicked and all that ...
PS> The best broadband I could find here was only 6Mb is this standard in America (as I was about to upgrade my 8Mb to 24Mb back in England) - not really a huge problem, just means I'll have a bit more of a wait when I sync files from SI England.

Hey, so have I. (But I'm an insomniac, not English.)
I'm not sure if 6Mbps is standard, but it's what Comcast Cable is. Not sure about DSL or other cable internet services, though.

I'm surprised, Marc. Living here in the US fulltime? (If ever I get the chance, your first round is on me :))

In my experience jet lag is a lot worse going from the US to Europe rather than the opposite. If you're not enjoying it now, just wait until you have to go back home for some reason...

Now maybe you'll understand why we complain so much when we've got to download a patch from your site - it takes forever! :D

Wal-Mart bought Asda a couple of years ago, but they haven't made much of a difference to their position - Tesco's are still way ahead of everyone else in the UK supermarket market

Also my first thoughts.
One thing is my wife has always wanted to go to Florida while I've never really had any desire to do so. I guess we could go now. She could look at whatever sights she wanted to see and I could go hang out with Marc discussing the finer points of playing FM. :)

They're supposedly moving out of Germany, sold all their stores to a German chain called Metro. Apparently Germans aren't big on cheap tat.

ASDA's are nothing like Wal-Mart! Tesco is the closest thing. But even a "Super Tesco" doesn't compare to a regular Wal-Mart. Just one of the many things I miss about the states. Another one being that NOWHERE stays open past 7 pm!! WTF!!

Let me ask that as well :D.
And where abouts in Florida? Hell, if it isn't too far, maybe we can invite him to come meet the FOFCers in Atlanta ;).

Never said they were. And I guess you must be in a village then, as otherwise I have not got a clue why you can't find anywhere open after 7pm.

Where are you staying at, in general, in Florida?
I wasnt going to come bother you...just would be easier to tell you your options for broadband access. If you are in a Verizon coverage area, you may have access to their 15/5 Mbps service. I believe they also may still offer a 30Mbps downstream for consumer level service...but not positive.
Anyway...welcome to Florida!! Enjoy the weather.

Rockledge (http://www.city-data.com/city/Rockledge-Florida.html) - seems a nice quiet sort of place, my next door neighbour is a mad Mancunian* - who supports United which gives a nice friendly tension as my wife's a City fan :D
*Who shares the same taste in whisky as me which is very cool :D

Rockledge, eh??? I grew up about 20 minutes south in a town called Palm Bay. I like that area of Florida, personally...but I admit I have a bias from growing up over there.
As far as broadband access, I know Bellsouth(Telephone Co) is over there, but I believe they might only have DSL at this time. Brighthouse(CATV Co) is there as well and they have a CMTS setup...so they might be your best option for access, but probably worth talking to both. Not sure if there are any other viable options over there these days, I live over in Tampa area these days.
