Is it wrong that I root against players that play for my favorite teams?
I like the Knicks (go ahead...) but laugh every time I see Marbury has an awful game. (I laugh a lot!) I like the Lions, but wanted to see Harrington play so bad that he would end up in Miami.
So how wrong is it to root against players on your teams? I can't just simply believe that if a guy puts on a jersey for my team that he's a guy that I should be all rah-rah for. I feel that rooting against some players is for the good of the team, kinda like if someone has cancer you don't root for the cancer!

I used to root against Kevin Millar.
It's one thing if it's just a bad player. I'd say no in that situation as it still is your team. The Harrington situation doesn't seem to fit.
It's a whole different story when the player is a card carrying member of the "I had to get a plexiglass slab inserted in my abdomen to see where I'm going because my head is permanently up my ass" society. Starbury fits that description quite well.
As a Skins fan, there is no situation where I could possibly cheer for TO if they signed him. It just goes against all that is good and right in sports (which is why so many of the Cowgirls fans had no problem assimilating the player).
So:
bad player=no
walking, talking fecal matter=yes
wait...as a skins fan...you do realize that your team has now signed fred smoot twice, right?

I find that hating Matt Millen is good for the Lions.

I can't say I rooted against Bruce Chen, Rodrigo Lopez and Russ Ortiz last year but I wanted them off the team badly. Eventually I stopped watching games where they were one of the starters.
It's only Spring Training now and I'm already wishing Steve Trachsel off the team.
