So I had comcast come and give me the HDTV Cable box, and I had to get the the DVI to HDMI coverter and red/white cables. I then had professionals come and snake the chords/wires through the wall. Problem now is that the sound isn't working correctly.

None of the instructions are clear, I have the HDTV picture but no sound on HDTV channels. Then now on my regular TV, the sound is now out of sync. It is driving me nuts. I bought the TV about a year ago from Circuit City, should I call them to help install? Shoul I call comcast to come back over and install? Do they even do that?

Or can anyone suggest some sort of national chain/store/service that works on Home Media equipment?

Do you have surround sound speakers? Do you have a A/V receiver? What settings are currently on for sound on the box?

My guess is that they set the HDTV channels to surround sound which needs a digital output but didn't hook that up.

No Surround sound, just the speakers from the TV. How do I know what the settings are on the box? I have a motorola box.

Is there a way to set the HDTV channels to no tgo to surround sound not needing digital output?

I finally got the sound working synced for the regular TV (non HDTV).

I'm not sure about that box and where it would be, but it most HD Cable/Satelitte boxes have a setting somewhere under the settings menu, audio submenu, that you should be able to check. If you correct that setting, I'm willing to bet that it will fix your HD sound issues.

Thanks Eaglesfan27, I tried that and still nothing. I have a damn good picture but no sound when on HDTV setting!

Does anyone know of a service that would come and look at my setup for me and possibly fix it?

somewhere in there there is a setting for dolby digital(i think) on the TV. The HDTV channells think that the HDMI wire is providing sound, i'd mess around in those settings and see if you can't get the sound input set to a different setting, which would make use of the red/white. alternatively check the box and make sure it's outputting analogue sound instead of digital. just some guesses, I've had people call with similar problems.

i think stevew nailed it. it sounds like the hd channels are expecting a digital signal that your red/white cables cant provide. you need to change your settings from DD or digital to stereo in your cable box.

I would say your cable company needs to come out and fix your sound issues. There might be some question if you had a complicated home theater setup, but if you are using the TV speakers with a connection coming straight from your cable box, the cable company needs to fix it.

Most cable boxes have menus that general customers can't get to unless they know a convoluted code to enter in the remote, so you probably can't fix this yourself.

Actually the settings for changing sound should be accessible to the general public.

What type of box is this, Motorola?
