Ugh ugh ugh.
That's all there is to say about this week in general.
It all started Friday with the crappy snow (that wasn't too much of a hinderance as it turned out) and the girl who is staying at my apartment arriving like 3 hours late (not really because of the snow, I can't fault her for her lateness, but it should have been an indication of things...), making me go to bed later than I wanted and just starting this last whirlwind week before my best friend's wedding off on a bad foot. Plus, I'm discovering more and more that I don't actually like this girl who's staying with me. She talks WAY too much and doesn't shut up and watches really stupid tv and doesn't even ask if it's ok to watch or if there's something I want to watch (not that I'd say anything against it, I'm trying to be a good hostess) but seriously even as I'm typing this she's talking and talking and talking and oh my gosh will she please just SHUT THE HELL UP, I don't even know what she's saying anymore.
Then Saturday she didn't feel like waking up on time (we had to pick up the bride who lives about 50 minutes from me then go to a spa for a certain time), then the bride was running late (can't hold that against her, either), finally we got to the spa just before they cancelled our (expensive) appointments.
Then we did lunch in Columbia (UGH what a shithole yuppie town that has become) and I almost got killed three times in the parking lot at the mall because people there are absolute fucking morons now and can't drive.
Then the Terps lost.
Then we went out to Howl at the Moon (in Baltimore) for the bulk of the bachelorette party and at some point, the bride was drunk enough that she was acting about 12 or so...so was the girl (another bridesmaid, I'm maid of honor) who I'm hosting this week. At some point I started to say that the bride was going to need some water (she's my best friend, though I wanted her drunk, I wanted her to be safe), as she was quite drunk and the girl I'm hosting said she wasn't even buzzed yet to which I pointed out to her that she was acting like she was, and she said "that's how I always am" (and at this point I had to fight ever urge to tell her that it was then no surprise between her incessant talking about NOTHING and this acting like she's 12 that she's single with no prospects). Finally at about 9:30 (we weren't out very long) I realized that the bride had crossed the line and decided it'd be best for us to go home (they were predrinking, and she had a lot to drink at Howl including bits of other peoples' drinks...I was sober, being the DD).
Stayed up with the bride as she puked and made sure she was OK through the night, which entailed me accidentally sleeping in my contacts, so I woke up Sunday with a raw throat, horribly painful eyes, and a drippy nose which I tried to attribute to the smoky bar and sleeping with my contacts in. Everybody else gave me crap for not being more awake when I was the one who was up most of the night with the bride (which I was expecting to do) and frankly was really looking forward to getting back to my apartment for sleep.
Finally got home and the girl I'm hosting wanted my wifi network info so she could do whatever, I gave it to her and proeeded to try to pass out except that she kept screaming at my router saying it was stupid and her computer couldn't find my network only for me to come out and point out that she has to tell her computer to look for it, as I do not broadcast my ssid and then she was whiny and didn't know how to do that. So after straightening all that out, I went to the bathroom and discovered she hadn't replaced the roll. Took about a 3 hour nap, then was up for like 3 hours til 10 or so then went to bed for real.
Woke up this morning with my throat sore, nose dripping, and pounding sinuses. Took some Advil and Sudafed and trudged out on my way to go back up to Fredneck to pick up the bride who wanted to go to the National Shrine to get a crucifix for the wedding. Again, the bride was late (this time she had an impromptu sleepover at her fiancee's house), then we got mobbed in traffic, and I'd kind of worked out the schedule to ensure I could get back to the Ashburn area around noon so I could go to the gym. Finally got all that done, getting to the gym in the nick of time but feeling so icky and stuff that my trainer and I ended 5 minutes early and I felt totally wiped.
But oh no the fun was just beginning. Next on the agenda was to go back to Laurel to pick up my new car (the one I bought last Saturday, the 10th), where I was kindly informed that for some or the other reason, they didn't have it yet and it had almost been sold a second time (I've already signed the papers and handed over my trade-in). So now I've driven across hell and back and haven't accomplished much and my sinuses are pounding and I get told that the place didn't have the friggin common courtesy to call me and TELL me they didn't have the car when it was known I'd come in today.
So I still have the loaner car which I'm putting scads of miles on and when I get my "new" car it will be a "brand new" car with 200 miles on it. What a crock. My last car, which I also got new, had 13 on it (all miles I put on in the test drive). Had to drive back up to Fredneck to drop off the bride and then back down to Assburn where oh my gosh that girl who was with me won't friggin shut up and I'm too nice to tell her to do so. Meanwhile the car dealership is supposed to call me when they get my car on the lot (it was in Alexandria when I went to the dealer today). I guess if I haven't heard from them by 8:30 I'll call them.
I still feel like shiat and need more Sudafed. Oh my gosh please make her lose her voice and why the hell am I watching Star Trek Enterprise I really want to watch basketball or Scrubs (followed by Daily Show).
Then my mom gave me a lecture when I called her to tell her something else, that even if I'm sick, as maid of honor I have to be in the wedding and I'm like, "If just standing is making me sweat (which it currently is), I don't know how it'll go, I'll do whatever the bride wants but if it were me, I really wouldn't want a sweaty bridesmaid in the pictures or a sneezy coughy bridesmaid at the church. I really hope it doesn't come to that, she's my best friend, but if this cold goes the way my last 2 colds have, by Saturday I'll be running a fever and not be able to swallow.
Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh.
And tomorrow I get to go back to Rockville for two parts of a three part bone scan (and the third part is on Wednesday morning) to figure out if there's more wrong with my hand than we already know and have I mentioned I feel like I want to die right now?
