I don't start too many of my own topics here, but I figured this one deemed a new topic :)
So yesterday was quite a crazy day, I won't bore with the details...but we got some good news and some bad news...
The bad news: My wife and I's car is dead, engine seized up and wouldn't turn over (and it was running perfect before that, no reason to stall like it did really...) We just bought a house and don't really have ALL that much money to go out and buy a new car, but we will make due I suppose.
The good news: I am going to be a dad!!! Found out last night after two positive tests :) We will obviously to go the doctor to get it confirmed, but damn...this is just an awesome feeling :)

I was going to go with a joke about it being a LONG bus ride while your wife is in labor...
Congrats

Grats!
My wife is 16 weeks or so ahead of yours.. have fun. :D
Although, if your wife is anything like mine, you will be a bachelor for 3 months here. Mine was going to bed at like 7:00 PM every night...
I'm not even sure the doctor will do anything to confirm it further. They seem to put alot of faith in those things nowadays..

Don't knock the minivan until you've tried it. More room than our old SUV (which shocked me to no end), more comfortable, and easier to move around in when you need to help the kids with something...

I never understood why you wouldn't just get a "van" instead of a "minivan." For more than two kids, a full size van is the way to go.

Allegedly. My mother-in-law has one - eveng getting 6 in there is a tight squeeze.

It's pretty funny about minivans. When I was a kid, my dad refused to give up any of his bachelor toys. Instead of getting a car even remotely resembling a minivan, I had to sit in the tiny "backseat" of his Mercedes SL500 Roadster....That car is a two seater, with a little space in the back for like a backpack or something. It didn't even have a seat belt, so he rigged up a homemade seatbelt. And he'd do 100 on the 280 with the top down.
I hate you, dad! :( :( :(

My wife insisted on getting a minivan, and I happily obliged. I get the sedan, she gets the title of soccer mom, and when we actually need space to haul stuff around, we'd be screwed without it.
Congrats on the pregnancy news!

How big is your mother in law?
Threadjack-We are kind of, sort of SUV/minivan shopping now. Two kids, both in car seats, which means nobody else can go anywhere with us, ever.
Wife does not want to be a soccer mom...but we also don't want the payment of an SUV big enough (7 passenger) to have more room.

I never understood the difference between a van and a minivan. I figured the minivan was somewhat revolutionary, and therefore replaced all vans...so everything out there is technically a minivan. I'm obviously wrong, so can anyone tell me (or even better, show me) the difference?

My wife would much rather be a MILF than a Soccer Mom.

They are not mutually exclusive. And I am not contractually obligated to say that, either. :D

Vans can be airbrushed and turned into shag rug love dens. Minivans have windows and those pesky back seats.
