For putting Dice-K on the cover of your baseball preview.

Sheesh why don't you just shoot him now and get it over with.

*sigh*

You'd think Dice-K was Cy Friggin Young coming back from the dead.

How did he end up with "dice-k?"

Not sure. The media was calling him "D-Mat" for awhile. Then it became "Dice-K" and "D-Mat" disappeared.

Heh, read an interview with some Marlins hitters the other day that swore he was throwing the mythical gyro-ball.

Why does every effing nickname anymore have to be a variant of the same thing (J-Lo, K-Fed, A-Rod)? Can't we just call the guy Night Train or something?

because the media who create nicknames have zero originality or creativity. thats why they go into journalism

Um, I believe he got that nickname because that's how you pronounce his name. :)

True.

Also true.

Right around when Spring Training started, I could've sworn I read a quote by one of Boston's scouts or a personnel guy (it was anonymous) that sadly admitted that he doesn't throw the gyroball. I thought it was in a Jayson Stark article, but I can't find it, and people keep talking about it as if he is throwing it. Anybody else hear that?

I really have nothing against the guy and hope he never suffers a horrendous injury or have to watch a loved one die in his arms, but deep down I really do hope he bombs for the Red Sox.

I like how everyone has been foaming at the mouth today after his performance yesterday.

Uh....did anyone pay attention to the hitters he faced?

Hopefully he doesn't understand English and therefore will be immune to comments from the Boston sportswriter and talk radio community.

From one of the ESPN.com blogs today, a Marlins hitter was quoted as saying he thought the guy threw upwards of a dozen different pitches, and that when the guy aasked Varitek how many he throws, Varitek said, "I don't know, but I have to use both hands to give the signals."
