Anyone read these couple of authors?

Wilbur Smith and Stephen Baxter....two authors I've never read but am at least somewhat interested by. Stephen Baxter's "TimeShips" is the book that got me looking at him and Smith's "Rage" looked good to me.

Thoughts on these two guys?

My fiance has read Wilbur Smith's Near East/Egypt themed books and enjoyed them a lot. Can't say much beyond that because I didn't actually read them myself.
