I'm surprised at this, but as a public service announcement, I thought I'd let y'all know that this one will be coming off the menu at CPK in June. It's one of the more popular pizzas at my location, and I really enjoy it, so I thought I'd let you all know that you should go order it while you have the chance!

The only CPK location I know of in my area closed several months ago. I always thought they were overpriced anyway.

I've recently become a HUGE fan of blue cheese - particularly as a topping to burgers and part of a crust on steaks.

Here's where I say, "What the hell kind of pizza do you people eat? You can only get a real pizza from a pizzeria located in the immediate NY/NJ area. Anything further west, including all chain pizzas, are pure trash!"

What is CPK?
Pear on a pizza sounds good, but put me in the group with the kids that don't care for blue cheese. I think blue cheese is one of those things you either love or hate...there doesn't seem to be much middle ground for people on it.

At least they're not getting rid of the shrimp pizza.
I would burn down corporate HQ if they tried.

AM-fucking-EN!
I'm visiting my folks in Jersey this week and the first thing I said I wanted as a pizza from Charlie's. Completely worth it.
That and actual NY/NJ bagels.

California Pizza Kitchen. It's where I bartend and wait tables.
The pizza actually not only has pears and gorgonzola cheese on it, but it has a salad on top of it as well. It's actually quite good. Which is why I'm surprised it's not staying around.

Well, to be fair, California style pizza isn't really pizza at all. It's just a combination of food on a pizza dough. If you don't treat it like pizza, it can be pretty good. But if you are expecting "pizza"... well...

Exactly. We definitely don't serve 'traditional' pizza as the norm here. Sure, we have a Pepperoni, a Hawaiian, etc...but people really eat here to try the Carne Asada, Jamaican Jerk, Mango Tandoori Chicken, or other off-the-wall pizzas. And having worked at a much more traditional pizza place before, I have to say that this stuff is pretty damned good.

I really do like the jerk chicken pizza. I wasn't impressed with the carne asada pizza, but it was a long time ago, and my memory of it maybe be blurred.
Overall a solid restuarant.

As the Italian proverb goes:
Al contadino non far sapere quanto è buono il formaggio con le pere.
Do not let the farmer know how good cheese is with pears.
