Don't really expect a great technical game, the field at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas has been soaked by so much rain that the US had to cancel practice yesterday, and more precipitation is expected tonight

Released from camp to get back to their European teams: Carlos Bocanegra, Tim Howard, Oguchi Onyewu

Brian Carroll also was released to go back to DC United preparing for the winner take all showdown at Chivas of Mexico next week in the CONCACAF Champions Cup Semifinals

Sounds like a lot of subs, possible caps for some new guys. I'm sure we'll still see Landycakes, but otherwise lots of 'B' players.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. :(

I don't understand the point of regularly playing crap teams in friendlies.

I think id much rather play crap then good teams...playing crap allows us the opportunity to play our B-team or C-team and still get a solid look...playing england and germany with anything but our A-team and their going to get embarrased. If we want to build any depth as a nation, we need to get guys like demerit and simek a look.

Because in a few months, we will have to have TWO national teams? One for the Gold Cup, and one for the Copa America?

Respectfully diagree since they tend to send their B and C teams too. And it's not the fact that we're playing Guatemala this time, it's that we almost always play some mediocre team like them (and us for that matter).

It's best I not comment on the Gold Cup.

Sorry I don't watch much soccer so could you explain why two teams? Are they happening at the same time?

Just about, The Gold Cup Runs from June 6 to June 24, 2007, and the Copa America runs from June 26-July 15, 2007.

As things stand, since the Gold Cup is our continental championship, European teams are required to let our players go to participate in it, however, since we're a "Guest Team" in the Copa America, European teams are NOT required to release our players (and they wouldn't feel great about letting our players go for six weeks anyway)

CONCACAF has to have the worst refs of any federation, we haven't gotten the benefit of the doubt on one call to my knowledge. Same old story every time we get a Central American ref.

I'd like us to up the tempo a little bit, maybe that would help open up their 4-5-1. Fielhaber hasn't impressed, he's just been subbed off for Kenny Cooper, perhaps a 4-3-3?

I think the blue uniforms are pretty sharp.

One of the problems right now is that we don't have backs on the field who can really push forward and look dangerous. We always seem to do better when we have a wing who can overlap on the left or the right. We especially need one on Dempsey's side, since Mapp is a lot better on the wing, so a complimentary player out left isn't really necessary. Dempsey is too much of a central mid to really be useful without someone backing him up and running to both sides of him.

and a guatemalan is down. someone call the president.

These guys are awesome fakers. remind me never to sleep with a guatemalan girl.

Wow, Wade Barrett and Brian Mullan. I never really expected that for a national team, and I'm saddened Barrett isn't sporting the shaved head with massive mutton chops anymore.

The only ones who stood out for the night were Bradley and Mapp. Bradley was understated but was still damn good in the middle. Mapp was the only really dangerous player. Donovan was never really in the game, and Johnson isn't very good right now. Dempsey seemed more intent at getting pissed at people than actually playing. Simek and Spector were decent on the backline, but they need to work on getting forward. They still seem to be about a year away from really contributing. Conrad was solid in stopping Ruiz. Demerit was there. Feilhaber was just there as well.

Not much we could do when we had to go against 10 people dropped back. We have to work on our wing play though

Me too, who wouldn't want a Girl you could get to go down that easy!!

Totally dull Match, US seemed really disjointed most of the Night and I can't say it was all due to Guatemala.....Looks like losing out on Klinsman looms larger with each passing Match.
