Born this morn, Feb 24, baby #8 in the Revrew household!

Born at home, with revrew doin' the catchin' and Mrs. Rew doin' the, well, y'know.

If it's true that a puppy's paws determine the size of the adult, then you can all add Mattias Gregory Rew to your 2024 rosters as a 6'5 335 lb LT. He's got the wingspan for it, too!

Mama and baby are doin great!

#8! Good Gravy! They're so matter of fact now, you're having them at home while watching TV, is that it?

Congrats!

I understand there are rumors floating about regarding the relationship of hands to other parts of the body as well. You should be so proud. :)

Congratulations, revrew. Born at home? Like with a midwife?

Congrats. Hopefully someday I'll have a left tackle of my own. Of course, there's no way I'm going to go for eight. Three max...

Congrats and good luck with the sleep schedule. I have 3 and they almost killed me (back long ago when they were young'uns. What is the boy/girl ratio?

Thank y'all! 3 almost killed me too! But then we had number 4, and things got progressively easier. 3 was definitely the hardest number of children to have, especially when mine were all little.

Boy/Girl? Mattias evens the score at 4 of each.

Stats? 9.5 lbs, with about a 3-foot wingspan, and hands so big he can probably already throw a split-finger fastball.

Someone asked earlier about a midwife. #1, 2, and 3 were in hospital w/midwife. #4 and 5 were in hospital -- never again, Lord willing! #6 was supposed to be at home with midwife, but she didn't arrive on time, and I attended solo. #7 we just had at home, skip the midwife (though we had prenatal care). #8 was the same.

With 3, the old joke about having to play "zone defense" applies. But with 8? Not sure there IS a defense for that!

Yes, it's called "Box-One" defense. Place them all in a box (crib), and run around trying to catch the one that keeps getting away.

I think that's when you have to start recruiting from the other team and go back to man-to-man.

Have child 1 cover child 4, child 2 covers child 5, child 3 covers child 6 and then mom and dad can take 7 and 8.

That's almost exactly right!

But you've got to invert the order a bit. Mom and Dad take 7 and 8. 1 takes 6, 2 takes 5, and 3 takes 4. Although I kind of like the box-and-one strategy. I might try that approach now and then when they've gone on a streak and we need to slow their momentum.
