They sure are annoying. Can't IR 'em, can't risk playing them. My damn backup safety/dime corner in IHOF has been out all season with a hamstring injury. Maybe I should put him in so he can get a serious enough injury to be IR'd.

Worse yet, in GEFL, my star cornerback is out with severe depression. GO HIT SOMEBODY! It'll make you feel better, son.

I had the same dilemna in IHOF (WR Jewell Simpson, don't laugh!) and WOOF (DT Craig Witcher, my first round pick). Both sat out on inactive until the injury vanished. It took both guys roughly 10 weeks to get to "100%". I didn't feel like risking either guy to go out with a severe hamstring pull and the out time no longer being unknown, but rather until the next seasons starts.

Severe depressions are so random, I had two guys in GEFL pick it up during a winning bowl game. I figured both got depressed from the team's dominance, with a repeat about to be completed.

Did they go missing and then show up before the Bowl after a week in Mexico?

I have kept playing those hamstring forever injuried guys and the injury ends dissapearing after some time, never had any of them suffering a worse one.

Did they go missing and then show up before the Bowl after a week in Mexico? I guess it was bound to happen, with the team situated in Houston, Mexico is about around the corner.

Actually, with memory refreshed, one of the two guys got depressed in week 16 of that season (he spent the following season on IR and was rumor has it he wasn't home much;)), the other guy I just can't figure out who it was, but I swear it happened during the bowl game...

I hate to do it, but I'll almost always keep them inactive, especially with certain injuries.

I had a solid center get a concussion last season, either in the last preseason game or the first regular-season game. He was questionable, and his backup was unskilled, so I thought I'd play him anyway.

Oops. The next game: post-concussion syndrome (I think - I know it was concussion-related), out for the rest of the season.

Well, not just that season. At some point during the season, it changed to out for the rest of next season as well.

Given all the news about concussions recently, it made me feel as guilty as one can for something you do with ones and zeroes.

Now, when a player has a concussion, he sits until he's 100%.

In my Redzone League I had an OT get depression, and have it for three years. I couldn't cut him, and his ratings just went down the tubes. So I was stuck paying this guy on my roster. If I could have, I would have just bought out his contract to get rid of him.

I find that a quick and easy way to heal questionable players is to IR them. They heal within 2 weeks.

You can't use them...but at least they're able to enjoy their money pain-free.

The down side is that most players on IR seem to take an experience hit during the following training camp for their lack of playing time a season earlier.

I had a guy get a concussion in a game, he stayed in, got another and that was a CEI concussion.

This happened this week in FOFL too (MIJB was the one to notice this, actually). I don't know if it could effectively be prevented by adjusting the play with injury setting or not, but I think even if it can, something like this just shouldn't happen. Pardon my French, but it's horseshit (and I say this w/o it being my player).

By experience hit, do you mean they lose red and keep the same level of green? Or do you mean their ratings go down in overall?

If it's their overall rating, it is probably due to the injury taking effect. Guys that have injuries serious enough to go on IR tend to come back less the player than they were, due to the severe nature of their injuries. I've had a few promising young All-Pro guys break a leg and come back a solid player, but never again an All-Pro.
