Anyone tried them?
I'm really looking for any information I can get on them, actually. I found some good stuff in a sticky at the totalwar.com forums, but it was mostly on how to create one 9which I might try some day).
Anyway, there seem to be a bunch of Web sites, and I don't know which ones have mods without checking them. And the ones I have found that have mods (like the Orb or Ord or whatever) don't explain them at all, making me really worried about adding those files to my game and possibly screwing it up.
Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions or advice on this sort of thing, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Oooh! Lord of the Rings mod on its way! Even with a map!
Thanks for the link, Anrhydeddu. Now, is there anyone here with experience with this sort of thing who would like to share their experiences/opinions/advice on them?
Thanks.

Get a port with a trading post and put a ship in each sea area so that they connect you to other ports. If the line gets broken for any reason you lose the income until you fix it. I usually end up with a ship in every sea area and several in many of them in case of war or storm. Also make sure the spots where you build your ports have tradeable goods; three is the max. Ports with two can make nice money as well. There's more to it then this but hopefully this will get you going.

Just line them up with the port you want to trade with. Every sea space must be occupied between your port and theirs. Then the trade is automatic.

they will probably have better explainations than I can provide.

As I understand it, you have to create an unbroken link, consisting of ships in each area, to other empires in order for your ports to make money. I'm playing denmark, for example, so I have at least one ship in each area streching from the French coast and around England all the way to my ports. They seem to make money this way.
Here is a good site with a forum where you might get more detailed info (I haven't played this game enough to be an expert):

thanks guys...this was a big help. didn't know it was automatic. i used to look in the income/expense screen and see no income coming from these ships.

Enjoy the game, it's really one of the best, if not the best, single player game I've ever played.

Thanks for the threadjack, HA. :)
Now, does anyone want to get back to the original point, which was to discuss the use of mods witht he game? :D

I would but since I almost never do mods I know nothing about them. It was a good thread jack though wasn't it? ;)
