Sometimes, but mostly NPR for me

I occasionally listen still, though I used to listen to it a bunch more. Political talk radio has gone too far toward discussion of individual newsmakers and away from the topics. Sports talk and other special interest talk can still be decent.

I listen to NPR quite a bit on my drive to and from work (about 45-50 minutes total per day), but it splits the time with music for me and I tend to listen to it more when there are things in the news that I am concerned with.
I listen to Sports talk Radio about 95% of the time. Occasionally I'll listen to music, but that's usually only when someone else is in the car with me (especially the wife).

I listen pretty much all the time I'm in my car. I listen to a variety of stations, 660 WFAN, 610 WIP, ESPN Radio, Glenn Beck, Rush, Hannity, Savage & Mark Levin. I also sometimes listen to Dom Giordano on 1210 the Big Talker. I also at times listen to the BBC and Deutsch Velle on weekends.

I split between NPR and sports talk radio in the morning and afternoons. If there is a commercial on sports talk radio (or they are talking about something I have no interest in) and whatever is happening on NPR is too dull (or they have started their "Jazzy Nights"), then I switch to music.
I never ever listen to political talk radio. It's inane. All of it.

NPR occasionally, but usually I'm listening to music from my mp3 player.

I don't ever actually listen to the radio. I don't have a car and I don't listen to it at home. However, I still listen to the podcasts of my favorite radio shows (Tune in to CT & Jivin LIVE at 9:00 on 923freefm.com tonight!!) as the bulk of my listening time. I do occasionally listen to music on my own, but never on the radio (except, like Bee, with others around). And when I use a zipcar I exclusively tune into the XM comedy stations.

So far, I'm the only person who voted that I don't listen to it at all. Ultimately, I guess I just plain don't care what the people on the radio have to say.

I'm with Bee.
Me too, although I've been more disappointed with the quality of sports talk radio over the last few years and have listened to music more in the car and sports talk radio less. I'd say it is 75% sports talk when I'm alone and 25% music.

Just as I don't care what song Clear Channel wants me to listen to once every hour. :)

Years ago, I listened to political shows (I was a dittohead for far longer than I'd care to admit), but the older I've gotten, the more disillusioned I've becomed with politics, so I turned pretty much solely to sportstalk. That was even tougher to bear sometimes. I've since found a handful of Podcasts that I like, mostly of talk radio shows - Tony Kornheiser, Penn Gillette, but some others that kind of fall into the category, but not really - Kevin Smith, PTI, Baseball Prospectus. I guess they all consist of people talking, so they'd fit into the category more than anything else.

My wife listens to BBC talk radio all day long. Occasionally she'll find something good like a special on Brit prog rock of the 70's where they got members of Yes to fess up to their band's Spinal Tap moments. But I don't listen to the radio at all. In my car it's CDs of my choice and that's that. It's about the only time I get to listen to music and I take full advantage of it.

Right now, since I don't have a CD player in my car, and music on the radio pretty much sucks balls, I listen to "talk radio". Not the political or sports talk, but Free FM. Opie & Anthony, The Barsky Show, Matt & Huggy, The Kid Chris Show and Scotty & Alex (not all of them, just what happens to be on when I'm driving).

I listen to Tom Leykis a couple times a week, because I like to hear how stupid he is. But now that I got XM I don't really listen to him at all anymore.

I'm probably back up to 50% music for the past several months, and will remain that way until the only rock station in the area puts a pair of half-witted talking heads back on in the morning (considered to be pretty much inevitable).
Then I'll go back to 99% news/talk/sports again.

I prefer the half-witted talking heads to the radio I hear these days. :) Although I hear there's a new station in DC that is reminiscent of the "good ol' days" of WHFS.

If forced to pick one or the other, I'd probably have agreed with you until recently but for the first time in several years, Atlanta has a station that's playing both new(er) rock (what would be termed "Active Rock" now) and some harder older stuff (AC/DC, etc). That's a pretty much perfect mix for me since they're doing it without any half-wit juvenile delinquents at all in the mornings since the format change. Pretty much everybody here knows that's going to change but I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

Yeah, as I said, there is apparently a new station up here that is decent as well. However, as I also said, I don't have a car which cuts out 99% of my opportunities to listen to the radio.
I download podcasts from iTunes and ESPNRadio and spend most of my car time listening to those. I consider that talk radio listening, even though it's originating from my iPod. I also listen to music, but again only the stuff on my iPod. I can't find a station here that consistently plays music that I enjoy.

In the morning I usually listen to NPR. Around lunchtime, Rome. Afternoon, cds/ipod. After dark, music - there's a few stations that play either good jazz, reggae, or something else I like listening to.

Normally Mike and Mike for my 7 minute commute in the morning and the local guy for my 7 minute commute home. I guess if you include podcasts (Kornheiser is the only radio talk show, the rest are podcast talk or different NPR shows), then probably 3 hours a do or so.

If talk radio hosts were hooked up to clamps that sent electric shocks coursing throughout their body when a button on my dash was pushed I'd listen more.
Until then, I just get so frustrated that this isn't the case I end up changing the channel.

I listen to NPR a bit. But listening to AM talk radio in Wyoming would be about as fun as cutting my ears off.

Lordscarlet... what's the station in DC that you're talking about? I confess that I haven't listened to ANY of the local music stations since I moved here 3 years ago. It's either cd's in the car or local sports talk radio.

Only if we talk show hosts had a button that would do something similar to dumbass callers. :)

Both of the suggestions work for me!
I listen to it all day at work. Sean Hannity, Dennis Prager, & Hugh Hewitt.

KC has one of the best sports talk stations anywhere that I've listened to and that's typically where my radio is tuned. But there's also a decent selection of rock stations, NPR, and my books on CD to listen to...

I voted with you, but have to say that one extremely huge reason I never listen to it is that I always listen to it when at work. Both of my jobs are with talk radio stations and six days a week I spend at least 6 or seven hours having to listen to it. So to go home and listen would destroy the little bit of joy I am able to wrestle from life.
