So here I am, watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the umpteenth time on ABC, and they advertise a show called National Bingo Night. Are you KIDDING me?

Wat are the odds that this show lasts more than 3 weeks? Of course, it appears that viewers will have a chance to win prizes, so I guess that will help it's popularity...but still...

They've just given up trying, haven't they? I think they sit in rooms and try to come up with the most ridiculous ideas possible and then push them forward, figuring someone will watch them.

They are going after the little old lady demographic.

Seriously. I can see my grandmother and my wife's grandmother loving this show.

This is absolutely dreadful. It's an abomination. Anyone who watches this show.....sucks. I'm sorry....I tend to have a very long leash with crap television shows (I mean, hell...I watch Real World Denver religiously), but this has truly scraped the clay at the bottom of the sandbox.

How is it that every weekend, at least one of Disney, Toon Disney, Fox Family, ABC, or another station has one of the harry potter movies on?

I think it's the family-friendly version of the Blade movies, always on somewhere.

Demolition Man is getting close to the same status, especially if you lump it in with several other non-Rocky movies from the early/mid 90's.

I'm sorry, but I've already set my TiVo that night to tape the Hit The Buzzer, Win A Cookie Tournament of Champions.

I think a better question is why in the hell is America's Funniest Home Videos still running?

I think they pulled the plug on that Donnie Osmond "dream vote" show halfway through the first episode. Seriously, though, for them to cancel it after 1 show...I wonder how few votes they got. Two dozen, maybe?

This show could prove tremendously popular with older people. My wife and I used to play bingo every now and then when we lived down in South Florida. Those people are maniacs about the game. You had people who have difficulty handling basic driving functions behind the wheel of a car manipulating 3 markers at one time and checking numbers on as many as 10-12 boards at once, and doing it better than I could do with 3 boards. It was insane. One time I won a game ($250), and they got pissed. I thought I was going to get beaten with walkers when I went to pick up my money - they treated me like I was stealing their social security checks. I didn't feel too bad about it, though, since I usually needed the money to replace the clothes I wore there. I've been to concerts that were less smokey than a bingo hall.

America's Funniest Home Videos is roughly the video equivelent of the 'What's the stupidest thing you've ever done?' thread that was started below. You can basically lump the videos into three categories: cute kids, cute animals and dumb adults. It's good clean fun as far as I'm concerned. There's far worse shows and it's something that you can even watch with your kids and then say 'Kids, don't ever try that'.

We don't watch it all that often - it's pretty much by accident if we do see it - but for me, it boils down to my tolerance level for the host. Bergeron is mildly annoying, while I hoped Bob Saget would choke to death during his stupid fucking half-laugh half-talk narration. The videos themselves usually made me laugh, in small doses. These are no different than the Xtreme Bloopers shows I've seen, except there are more skateboards, better music, and no annoying narration.
