WOOF had its inaugural Doggie Bowl last night. Broadcast available at: http://fof-woof.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=401

For those who missed it, it was a whale of a game between Taco's Des Moines Monks and Eaglesfan27's Atlantic City Gamblers.

Des Moines jumped out to an early 17-0 lead with no one able to stop Oscar Wolcott's arm or WR Rob Roberson (who was catching balls, making tackles on kick coverage, playing through a hurt ankle, and generally pretending to be Superman). But Atlantic City started getting stops and clawing their way back in thanks to clutch throws by 2nd-year QB Tyrus DeVito and some booming punts by Jerald Cash that kept pinning Des Moines deep. We had a 17-7 game at halftime, but Atlantic City crawled to within striking range on one FG, then another one later after a key fumble by Des Moines.

This set up a fantastic final sequence. Des Moines gets the ball back on their own 20 with 3:41 left and nursing a 17-13 lead. They go 3-and-out while burning around a minute of clock and one of Atlantic City's timeouts, but a roughing the kicker on the ensuing punt gives them the ball back. They still can't move the ball, but burn another 30 seconds and Atlantic City's two remaining timeouts. After the punt, Atlantic City is on their own 28 with 1:47 left.

Tyrus then does his best Tom Brady impression, overcoming a critical holding call to drive to the Des Moines 27 with 6 seconds left. DeVito spots WR Kirk Borrelli in the end zone and fires it in, only to watch it get knocked away. But there's a flag down! Pass interference on Des Moines, setting up a final shot for Atlantic City from the 1 yard line with 1 second left on the clock.

Atlantic City comes out single-back, Des Moines in a dime with 3 deep and blitzing two. Tyrus drops back, Borrelli comes open again, the ball is fired, catch, TD!

Atlantic City wins on the final play, 20-17. This was a fantastic game for the first Doggie Bowl in WOOF. Congratulations to EaglesFan27 for his victory, and Des Moines for a fantastic season themselves.
