A comment I just heard from an FOFLer made me realize this info should probably go out to those beyond just IHOF owners. I just posted this a few minutes ago in our Owners-Only forum.

Y'all remember the team I created for the test I did here that was compelling, right--the one drafted for short passing/inside running, but that performed better using run and stun principles?

I loaded that team up in 6.0e, created a Run-N-Stun gameplan, and ran a season:

Then, I loaded that same team up again, and created a balanced run/pass offense that relies heavily on short passing, and ran a season:

Finally, I loaded up a team that I drafted for Run N Stun testing. It's pretty much ideal. Note that even WR3 is rated 56/56:

I ran the same offense that sucked the big one on the short passing team. Results???

I don't think I could be more excited. The Run and Stun type offense still works, without using any weird game plan tricks and/or complicated math, but apparently it only works only if you have the right players. However, it clearly ain't workin' at all for a team without the proper skill set. As I've said repeatedly, it *should* work if you run as much and as effectively as the team above did, forcing the defense to respect the run; it just shouldn't work quite as effectively as Tucker's did this year.

Very cool, can't wait to take 6.0e for a spin later. Nice work Jim!

I do know my scrambling QB now knows when to tuck the ball and run MUCH better than with 6.0d.

Definitely agreed with this. I mentioned this in another thread, but it does feel as though my scrambling QB is tucking the ball in key 3rd downs as well as taking off when the defense is dedicated to the pass picking up huge chunks of yards.

And I seem to notice more subtle text descriptions in Solevision. In one instance my running back broke out of the grasp of a defender and kept running. In another instance, my defensive end tossed a OL to the side as he rushed the QB.

I've seen these in the prior versions.

I have seen when the running back eluded someone, but never seen the "breaking the grasp of the defender" so that is still new to me. And usually I had seen the DE elude the OL and not toss him to the side. Usually it is the OL tossing defenders on running plays. However I don't have any hard data, so I am hoping someone agrees with me or refutes my claim.

Work closed early today due to severe weather, so I've had a few hours with 6.0e and I'm loving what I'm seeing. Playing with the Eagles and Westbrook, the screen pass was a very effective weapon and was a key part in a 10-6 record in one of my simmed seasons. Also, a key part was McNabb's scrambling as I clearly see him taking off more than pre 6.0e. I then replayed the season with a deep passing attack without the weapons, and it failed to produce as this version of McNabb is poor at the deep pass. I had much more success with the short passing attack and running game.

Then, I ran that same long ball offense with the Colts. Manning put up 4500 yards and 44 TD's. Very nice. Gameplanning seems much more intuitive to me now.
