FTB will never die, just multiply...
This week's participant is Neuqua. This FTB has been a long time coming, but it is finally here. And he doesn't disappoint with a very interesting read. Thanks to everyone for your patience.
So do you really have a brother or was he just made up so you could rip him off in the RWBL?
I do indeed have one younger brother. He went to Purdue last year and got into Illinois State’s Business program and so transferred there now. He’s basically the bigger, stronger, better looking version of me. I tell him all the time though, he got the looks in the family while I got the brains and personality.
I hope you were joking about the making him up part though, I can understand how that might cross one’s mind especially after the whole Horns fiasco. But truth be told, he did run his own team and the only advantage I had with him was that I was able to talk to him about possible deals throughout the day. We lived together obviously so even If we had to step away from the computer, we could still try to work something out. He was never as hardcore about sports sims as I was, but he was a casual player.
What did you like most/least about college?
I loved the camaraderie. I feel like I now have friends that will be there with me until my last days. I’m a pretty private person as it is and so finding these friendships is a bigger deal than otherwise it may seem.
How was your experience of being a manager of the football team?
Man, I didn’t realize just how much of my life you RWBL’ers know about, hah. I was actually manager for the team for just about a month before I quit. It was a tremendous experience and I feel like I got to know one of the better people on this planet in coach Joe Novak. Even after a short amount of time, I have garnered a good deal of respect for the guy. He genuinely cared for the program and the students in it.
What would you do if the Cubs ever won a World Series?
I can’t even fathom. That would truly be the ultimate experience, and one that I don’t think I’ll ever even remember because I will have been too intoxicated. Mark it down now, the day the Cubs win the World Series, I want FOFC to put out an alert on me making sure I am still around the next day.
Who would win in a couch-dancing competition between you and Tom Cruise?
Tom is way shorter than I am (I’m 6’1”) so I think his little stubby legs have a little advantage on me.
Why does Julian Tavarez suck?
He always sucked, always, and only a GM who sucked just as much as he did would actually trade for the guy. Hence you traded for him. Not your fault though, a mismatch when you and I discuss trades. You live in California, but give me 10 minute I bet I can sell you sunlight.
Are you sick of the Cubs yet? Ready to jump on the Dodgers bandwagon? No team has seen more fans witness any of their games.
Slap yourself, honestly.
Was I really that bad in the RWBL?
Yes.
How does it feel to know that I know more about basketball then you do?
Oh please, you’re the one person who I refuse to discuss real life sports with anymore because I can’t get past the blatant homerism in everything you say. Kobe this, Lakers that, Dodgers this, UCLA that. Shut up already.
Do you have a sister?
No sister, just one younger brother.
Do you think you could have starred in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle? I dont think your that acting skills are up to pulling off Harold, but what about as Kumar?
What FOFC may not know is that Bug is actually referring to something real. My favorite hobby off to the side is improv comedy and I have always enjoyed acting. Because I have disclosed this part to Kyle, he routinely reminds me there was an Indian character in the movie Harold and Kumar.
If you didnt marry an Indian girl, would your parents be upset?
No not really, my parents moved here just about 25 years ago and yet I have one of the more liberal mothers around. Would it be ideal that I marry an Indian girl? Sure, but my parents just want to see me happy for the rest of my life and they trust my judgement in deciding who that person is going to be.
Did you vote for Obama in the last election? Would you vote for him as president? Would he make a good president?
I don’t vote for the localized elections because truthfully I don’t know enough information. I’m not being ignorant, I know it’s a right we should all take advantage of. I register for every election but I just never get around to learning more about the candidates and their platforms and thus I don’t like to randomly put in a vote based just on names I recognize and don’t recognize.
Honestly, does anyone in your family own a convenience store? (was that too politically incorrect?)
No, but I’m on my way to owning one. Give me about 3 more years. Seriously.
Im going to Chicago in June, can I see you?
If you bring that girlfriend of yours.
Do you hate Sammy for being Roided up? Im sure you agree that he doesnt deserve to be in the HOF
Not gonna lie, Sammy broke my heart. Sammy was THE man in Chicago once Michael Jordan left. There was a huge void and Sammy came in as a lovable superstar slugger who came out of no where to enchant baseball nation. He had a big smile and at the time always said the right things, it was a perfect match and I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. I would hear of the steroid allegations and I would just be ignorant about them, I was SURE my guy Sammy wouldn’t do such things. And when the corked bat incident happened, again, pure blind fan loyalty (much like Giants fans do with Bonds now) is what kept me from seeing the true side of what Sammy Sosa is about. And only now do I see that in reality, he’s a man who thinks only of himself and had no qualms disrespecting not only the game but people out there like me who pulled for him and jumped with him every time he hopped out of the batters box for another home run. This will shock someo f you, but if Sammy was never invited to the Hall of Fame, I would not shed a single tear. Do I think he should get in? I guess, but I’m certainly not going out of my way pulling for him. Truthfully, this was a devastating blow in my sports fan life.
Why does someone always dance in Indian movies?
All Indian movies are of a musical variety. And they are also pretty much all romantic chick flicks. In India, even the guys get into them. The stories are actually very good, and I recommend others to check them out should they want to try something different.
Would you hit it? The girl from Bend it like Beckham? (Not talking about Keira either)
Sure. The British accent thing is a major turn on.
What kind of car do you drive?
My first car was a gold 2000 Dodge Intrepid. I had it for less than a year however, because my dad took it out one night to a party and decided to get intoxicated beyond the legal limits. It led to him crashing into the car in front of him and both cars falling into a ditch. The person he hit was fine and didn’t have any injuries thankfully. My father himself, had barely a bruise on his entire body which I keep hearing was a miracle. To this day, my mom and uncle (who reported to the crash scene) never let me look at the shape of my Intrepid because it was supposedly completely damaged beyond belief and they felt like it would hurt me even more to see just how close my father was to the end of him.
What is your favorite restaurant? What do you order there?
Portillo’s. Man I love me some Portillo’s. I always get two hotdogs, some cheese fries and a medium fries. Outside Portillo’s, I would have to say Buffalo Wild Wings. I have not missed a Tuesday Wing night at BW3’s in two years. I don’t know why, I just like them better than Hooter’s wings or any of the local wing places in the city of Chicago.
What is your favorite food/meal to eat?
My two favorite types of food are buffalo wings and theater style nacho’s. I love nachos that are engulfed in cheese with jalapenos. I’m hungry now.
3 people(dead, live or fictional) you would like to spend the day with.
Gandhi – My friends are convinced if there is such a thing as reincarnation, I would have been Gandhi in my previous life. Our values and morals are very much indentical and I look up to him and his virtues more than anyone else.
Conan O’brien – I was ten years old when I first watched Conan. At the time he was brand new and nobody really knew who he was. He had a cheap looking set in the background that looked like it came out of a high school play. But for some reason, even at ten years old, he had me laughing. I shared his sense of humor and caught myself at a young age watching him whenever given the chance. Then a few years later, all of a sudden he blows up and becomes arguably the most popular of the 4 main late night hosts. Good for him.
JK Rowling - I have always said that I plan on writing a novel before I die, and have started on several but never sought them out to the end. I would love to talk to someone who has had success in the field and hound them for any tips and advice.
If you could play a pro sport, which one would it be?
Well basketball, because they get paid the most. Ok not really. Basketball is and will always be the sport I get most passionate about. I remember at a very young age seeing basketball for the first time on TV. I was upstairs playing with my He-man action figure when my dad yells my name to come downstairs. I run downstairs and he just sits there and tells me to look at the tv. At a guy named “Magic Johnson” who was shooting free throws. I ended up watching the rest of the game and begging my dad to buy me a basketball hoop for the drive way. The rest is history. I played up until college. Played in various small all star games and also on the side in pick up games. I think when basketball is being played the right way, there is no sport more beautiful.
Favorite all time Cub?
Ryne Sandberg. Though by the time he’s done, I might be saying Derrek Lee. The more I learn about his off the field behavior, the more impressed I get.
Why KKitttles21?
Oh man, I’m always asked this. I’ve had the screen name for what has to be more than 10 years now. I remember being in my early teens and staying up one night and watching some random college basketball game. It was Villanova vs. Notre Dame. In it, I just remember this guard named Kerry Kittles doing very well in the game, and for no other reason I chose him as my favorite basketball player. Again, I was young and very impressionable. Over the years I got too many friends and such who had this screen name that I didn’t want to go to the complicated process of switching.
What is your favorite movie genre? Favorite movies in that genre?
I love stupid humor movies. Love them. I can watch Zoolander all day long, as well as most Ben Stiller/Will Ferrel/Adam Sandler type of movies. I don’t always like to take myself seriously and these kinds of movies supply me with the outlet I need to just be dumb sometimes. My favorite movie of all time however, is American History X. Never have I felt so emotionally challenged by one movie. Ed Norton’s performance in it was outstanding and to this day I try to watch everything he’s in.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Mind control. I don't think there exists something as powerful as someone's mentality. Once you have control of someone's thinking, what is there you wouldn't be able to do?
Who are your favorite 80's bands?
Say it with me Bsak, BON JOVI! It’s funny, I’m not a dancer by any stretch of the imagination, I’m not even a crazy loud drunk. But if we’re all at a club or a bar in the city, at one point every night someone in my group is going to ask the DJ to play Bon Jovi or even “Pour some Sugar on Me” because I have a lot of fun with those songs. It’s silly and downright cheesy at times how when 80s music comes on, I’ll literally be circled by all my friends as they scream “Ooooooooh I’m half way there……”
Guns n Roses: best band ever or highly overrated?
Never cared much for them to be honest.
What podcasts do you subscribe to? Ever listen to the CTandJivin show?
I actually do listen to CT and Jivin and am actually subscribed to them. I never am in the car enough to finish an entire show but I like to support those who are putting in the rough work now in order to succeed down the line. At first it was hard to listen to but the two have built up a show I now genuinely enjoy listening to and I look forward to their future. I also subscribe to PTI.
Bears record for '07?
We win 12 games but we return to the Super Bowl. Put it in the bank.
How frustrating is it when people misspell your name?
Well my name isn’t hard to misspell at all. Sunny is my real name. But if you mean NEUQUA, well, I act like it bothers me but it really doesn’t.
Favorite ice cream flavor.
I don’t know if this ice cream flavor still exists but as a child, my favorite was something called SUPERMAN ice cream. It was a wild blend of blue, pink, yellow and I don’t really know what it was made of but I loved it. But I can never find it around anymore so that’ll be a taste only existing in my memories from here on out. Currently I like sticking with the boring mint chocolate chip. It gets the job done. But if any of you know where I can find a box of the Superman Ice cream, let me know.
How did you feel when you found out you were selected for the next FTB?
I asked Barkeep if he had mistakenly sent me the request by mistake. I don’t consider myself very well known around these parts at all. But then I remembered it was Schmidty who picked me and it all made sense, Schmidty has secretly longed for me ever since the days of RWBL/JBL. It only made sense he would put me in the position where he could learn more intricate details about my life.
What cologne do you wear?
Very Sexy by Victoria Secret, I’ve heard rave reviews about it from people and it found a good deal on it.
If Antmeister and I went to Chicago, where would you recommend we go?
Well I’d recommend checking out all the different deep dish pizza joints possible. Also going to Wrigley Field to catch a game and then hitting up the bars in Wrigleyville is a pure Chicago experience. We have everything here, I’d recommend checking out the Shedd Aquarium along with my personal favorite the Planetarium. Then there is also the Art Institute and the Museum of Science and Industry. You then have Navy Pier when you want a day out in the sun. I love Chicago.
How would your best friend describe you?
Loyal, people smart, and witty.
What is the first thing you notice about people you are attracted to?
Their smile, a pretty smile will always catch my attention and have me thinking about them long after.
Summer or winter?
Neither. The one thing I dislike about Chicago. I hate the extreme hot weather in the summer and the extreme cold weather in the Winter.
What's your special talent?
Ask my girlfriend.
When and where were you born?
I was born on December 11th, 1983 in a hospital in Melrose Park, IL.
How do you pronounce Neuqua?
Knee-Qwa .. It’s really not that difficult. I attended Neuqua Valley High school and for whatever god forsaken dorky reason, I have used Neuqua as my online personality ever since.
Do you miss me going nuts over in the RWBL forums?
Thing I enjoyed most in RWBL/JBL is that the leagues were secondary to all the personalities and friendships which ended up developing from them.
Steve Bartman - Is hangin too good for him?
Steve Bartman is ok in my book, Alex Gonzalez is not.
You get to invite eight FOFC folks over for a night of poker and conversation. Who do you invite, and almost as important, who wins?
I’d probably invite eight guys who I’d love to get to know but weren’t necessarily good at poker (so I could take their money.)
Right off the bat:
Stevew – Had many a conversations with him online and would love to hear more about him.
Bsak – Arguably the only competition I could ever have for the best OOTP GM of ALL TIME IN ALL OF THE INTERNET. His Phillies were marginally more successful than my Cubs and I would attribute that more to me leaving the RWBL and so Brian got to pad his stats against the others.
Swaggs – Another guy who now that I think about it, due to RWBL/JBL I’ve spent almost 7 years knowing. Man, life goes by fast.
Bug – Because he would cry if he found out about the party and wasn’t invited.
Schmidty – Only if he promised not to stare.
Crapshoot – Would be nice to invite someone who actually knows the names of the Indian appetizers I would be serving.
Subby – The guy cracks me up more than anyone else at FOFC.
Sackattack – Very level headed even though from the West coast. Basically the complete opposite of Bug.
What better, Cocky or Funny?
Funny, nothing better than funny.
Do you know a Cassie Pacheco?
I have the worst memory in the world, I can’t ever remember names. But I’ll say yes.
Have you slept with a girl from Galesburg, because I could be related to them and I don't want to have to beat your ass?
:whistles nervously:
If 2x2=5, then what would the square of 5 be?
Leave me alone, I hate math.
Is it true what they say about you?
Probably.
Would you considered yourself to be extroverted or introverted?
Extroverted to those I don’t know, introverted to those who know me. I present myself very well to strangers and like to get conversation going, but there is a strict barrier from that point on which I don’t let friends become close friends. Just a protection thing I guess.
If you were filthy rich, what would be the first thing that you would purchase?
If I were filthy rich, the first thing I would purchase is my parents a house to retire in. Make sure they didn’t have to work. For myself? I would probably want to set up an ownership group to buy the Cubs and end this damned curse. I’d then try to buy the Bulls and Bears as well.
If you could choose 3 women in the world who could not deny your natural body odor, who would you choose?
Joey Potter, Kate Beckinsale, Nicole from the Pussycat Dolls
What would be your ideal place to live?
I already live there. I am as proud of my city and hometown as anybody can be and wouldn't consider moving elsewhere. Or would atleast have to do it under extreme circumstantial situations. I do enjoy England however and wouldn't mind starting fresh in some far off place.
How many generations of your family resided in the US?
My parents were the first, moving here about 25 years ago. I guess I’m the first breed of American-born in my family.
If jbmagic were to interview you and somehow he knew about an internal struggle you have in which you couldn't decide which is better, how would the question be phrased:
What better _________ or __________?
Oh man, I could answer this question but if ever my girlfriend clicked on this thread, I would die.
What sort of games do you play outside of text sims? Do you play console games as well or are you strictly a PC guy?
Actually it’s funny, I’m really not that much of a gamer anymore. Back in the day I played every text sim known to man for hours every day. FBCB was my favorite but also spent a lot of time playing OOTP, FM, FOF. Now, I don’t own any variation of new text sims. I just think it may be something I eventually grew out of. Or maybe a game hasn’t come around recently that has grabbed me like they did when we were younger. I used to be a big console gamer as well but same thing happened there. I’m waiting to see what happens with the console war before I go ahead and make a purchase, though I am intrigued with the Wii. Might be exactlyt he kind of thing I need to get back into console gaming.
Craziest thing you have witnessed in person?
A few years back, my best friend and I had gone to the mall to just hang out and catch up on things. We rounded the corner and there was an adult woman (maybe in her 30s) who was on her cell phone and complaining about feeling dizzy. We weren’t eavesdropping but we crossed paths so it was easy to hear. Anyways, the reason this ended up being memorable was that in no more than 5 seconds later, we heard a scream and the most god awful sound of a skull hitting pavement. We turned around and saw something absolutely horrifying. Apparently the lady was walking and either fainted or tripped on something. She had plenty of shopping bags in her hand and so she could not extend her arms to protect her from the fall. And so as we turned around, we saw this poor lady knocked out with blood exiting from her head. Needless to say, my best friend and I had a very traumatic experience and it was tough dealing with for a couple weeks. Very scary, especially since we were so young at the time (maybe 11 or 12.)
What location did you spend a majority of your life in?
I’ve been in Chicago and the Chicagoland area all my life. There are very few people out there who are as proud of their city as much as I. I honestly don’t think I would ever want to move any place else. I just see no point. Anything you can do in another city, you can do in Chicago. And Chicago doesn’t have the “big city” mentality that LA and New York does, even though it in fact is the third largest city in America.
Do you visit any other family member abroad?
I go to England every couple years or so because I have some family and cousins there. Enjoy it a great bit. I haven’t been to India since 1990 despite my family’s insistence and begging. The reason? When I was there in 1990, I was 7 years old. I got the flu bug and was sent to the hospital. Problem is, that wasn’t it. Turns out, at 7 years old I had the Malaria, Typoid, and Mnemonia (no idea how to spell it) all at the same time. I remember it vividly to this day, late at night my nurse coming into my room and explaining to my mom to keep a close eye on me because it may be the last night I spent on earth. Keep in mind my mom and nurse thought I was asleep and not hearing their conversation. At 7 years old I sit there listening to all this with my eyes closed, not wanting to let mom know how scared I was. Obviously, since then I got better but I stil have a mental block of ever going back there. Just scared.
If FOF were to make your player card, how would the following categories look:
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 145lbs
Loyalty: 97
Wants Winner: 62
Leadership: 78
Intelligence: 77
Personality: 92
Popularity: 82
Volatility: 70
Health: 76
Seasonal Rust: (don’t know what this one means)
Attitude: 81
Chemistry: 98
What would be your dream job/career?
I would probably say to be host of Late Night when Conan takes over the Tonight show. Late Night has been such a big part of my life and I try to watch it as often as I can. It would fit in with my personality in that I love to talk to others and will always try to squeeze a laugh or two out of every conversation I have.
How many FOFC’ers have you met (if any)?
One. Cubbyroy actually gave me a job for a semester while I was attending NIU. I’m sure our Chicago contingent will all get together at some point in the near future though.
Do you have any odd quirks that drive your significant other crazy?
I’m stubborn beyond belief and it is to the point where it bothers a lot of people around me. It’s something I’m working on though.
What is the size of the family that you grew up in?
4 people, Mom and dad along with a younger brother.
What are your favorite hobbies?
I love reading and learning. There is plenty of useful information in this brain of mine. Also, I love to play Poker and basketball when time allows.
What do you fear the most?
Being alone. Not finding my other soul match and spending my life by myself.
What are you spiritual beliefs? Are they similar to you parents or are there differences?
I’m not a very religious guy but subscribe to the idea of karma. I really do think that as long as I do the morally right things, and can look in the mirror and not be embarrassed by who I am, that things will work out in the end.
What kind of music do you usually listen to?
I listen to everything, from Bon Jovi to Moby to Sufjan Stevens. I’m not picky about my music. I don’t take it nearly as seriously as others do.
What former RWBL owner do you perceive to have the biggest man-crush on you?
Either Bug or Schmidty. Though Bsak has always been envious of my success in OOTP and I can see how he has tried to emulate me in many ways. On the other hand, Maple Leafs won’t ever return my phone calls.
What is the most interesting unknown tidbit about you?
Hmm, difficult. I would say improv comedy. Two summers ago, I trained with Second City improv
group and was invited to stay on into their training program. Unfortunatly, Indian parents do not take very well to the idea of their son becoming a performer and there fore that dream was never realized.
What better? Cubs World Series or Northern Illinois BCS invitation?
I loved my school, but I would trade in my grandmother if it meant the Cubs were going to win the World Series. No contest.
Do you enjoy meat?
I don’t eat beef. I love turkey and Chicken and it’s because of those two I could never be a vegetarian.
Why do you like the Cubs? Or do you? I can't remember.
Slap yourself. I like the Cubs because I grew up in Chicago and they are like everybody’s younger brother that gets pushed around and ridiculed. I mean this with all honest, the day the Cubs win the World Series, it will be unlike anything else. Including the Red Sox winning their World Series. Cubs fans have dealt with more in my personal opinion, the Red Sox were in the playoffs every freaking year. We haven’t been to the World Series since the 50’s.
What is the most imortant trait in someone that you consider a true friend?
Understanding. I am not perfect and nor do I claim to be (outside my OOTP skillz). A true friend of mine can recognize my strengths and weaknesses and adjust accordingly.
What is your favorite cartoon character?
Scooby Doo.
The person who has most influenced you A) Positively B) Negatively
A) Mother – The inspiration of my life. Worked 60 hours a week for 25 years doing hard labor and not once has she ever complained about a thing. Lived in a household where she deserved a lot better from her husband and always managed to make it through.
B) Father – I still love him like a dad but he’s shown me basically how to do everything wrong in a family. He was an alcoholic, and very disrespecting to my mother and his kids. I care for him deeply but I don’t know. In a way I take it as a positive because I know exactly how I want to treat my own family and it really is a blue print of doing it the opposite of the way I grew up with.
Have you ever cried? Why (If rarely)?
I don’t mind crying. I don’t do it very often but because I am not very emotional, I let it all build inside me until the pressure gets too high and it gets a hold of me. I think its healthy to cry sometimes.
Do you miss the JBL? Should we start it up again?
I do miss the JBL and my cursed Nippon Ham Fighters. I heard a little birdie telling me there was talk about rejuvenating the league and if that were to happen, I’d want to be considered to be a part of it.
If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, how many people would you want to tell you love them before you go?
My family, and a select couple friends.
What female body type turns you on the most?
Stomach. Oh man, a girl can have a face of a monkey’s but if she’s got a nice flat hard stomach, I’m interested.
Why don't you play WW anymore?
Just don’t have the time to read through all the long 25 page games anymore. It was a lot of fun when I did. Oh, and also, I suck at WW.
Thanks to all,
Neuqua
This week's participant is Neuqua. This FTB has been a long time coming, but it is finally here. And he doesn't disappoint with a very interesting read. Thanks to everyone for your patience.

Tom is way shorter than I am (I’m 6’1”) so I think his little stubby legs have a little advantage on me.

He always sucked, always, and only a GM who sucked just as much as he did would actually trade for the guy. Hence you traded for him. Not your fault though, a mismatch when you and I discuss trades. You live in California, but give me 10 minute I bet I can sell you sunlight.

Oh please, you’re the one person who I refuse to discuss real life sports with anymore because I can’t get past the blatant homerism in everything you say. Kobe this, Lakers that, Dodgers this, UCLA that. Shut up already.

No sister, just one younger brother.

Thanks to all,
Neuqua
