View Full Version : Playing in a MP League: how do you do trades?

I've just been looking at some MP leagues, and some have really nice websites, but one thing that I notice is missing from all of them is...no in-game ratings for player attributes on their HTML websites.

So for those of you in MP leagues, what do you do for trading, drafting and other stuff - do you wait until you get home so you can open the game, so you can analyze players?

I guess this is the same thing that you have to do for the draft which has always made me a little hesitant in being part of an MP league since I'm not sure I have the time at home to open up the game and do analyzing, when I DO have time at work to look at websites and analyze players there. It sure would be nice if player ratings were on HTML, but I'm guessing this is an impossibility for FOF? If so, it may be a reality I need to accept with MP leagues.

It wouldn't do any good to have the players' ratings on the website, because each team's scout rates each player differently.

ahhh, that's pretty interesting. thanks shane, that's a big help to try and understand the game a little more. i guess some good news is that there probably aren't a ton of trades that go on anyway, but i wish there was an easier way for blokes like me who have to work all day and don't have access to the game.

trades usually happen pretty slowly -- definitely enough time for you to wait until you get home to talk to people.

You can take screen shots (i usually make PDFs from the print menu) and send them to yourself at work. In one of my MPs (RealDeal), there are player stat sheets on the website. actually, John, i was going to recommend RealDeal to you. It's run in England, goes slowly, and the Commissioner gives advice during key turns.

funny you say that, Sgran. i was looking at the RDFL just last night and was really impressed.

but PDF's? that's a really good idea, i never thought about that. probably not a bad idea just to keep ratings of players on your team i suppose either.

Do you just have a canned list of questions that you ask every six months, but with some of the words cleverly transposed so as not to arouse suspicion?

suspicion about what exactly?

seeing that i have never seriously played FOF and just bought 2007 today, i'm not sure why i'd have a canned list of questions and have never asked these questions before nor really any other questions since i only have 30 posts total...

Aren't you the johnd that was in the HFL for a couple of seasons as the Raiders?

Me, I wanna know what kind of job he has where he has more time to play FOF than when he's at home. I'm guessing he doesn't work at a school. Some days I barely have time to pee

good point - maybe i need a more demanding job. :)

as i poke more and more in FOF, i realize how much of a beginner i am with football. that makes me want to check on my team when i'm at work, when i can't play the game, but it's a bummer that i can't see the players' ratings on HTML.

i guess some good news is that there probably aren't a ton of trades that go on anywayDon't take this personal, but this is so un-true for one of the leagues I'm in. Especially with my own team, I'm averaging 12 trades per off-season. :D

I try and trade a bunch also. Love that aspect. In fact, I thought about getting someone to coach my teams and I just watch and make trades and run the offseason. Im terrible at playcalling, But I do ok at gathering talent.

It's true. He can spot a QB who can complete less than 50% of his passes on a very consistent basis. :)

That first quote is what had me confused. How could he have never played FOF seriously when he was in a very solid MP league for a couple of seasons?

i didn't read your question long enough. i was in HFL for about a full offseason and a preseason and had to leave because of real life issues. i never even completed one season in HFL let alone multiple.

forgive me for any miscommunication, it was my mistake.
