The Leps got the rock outta here, leaving just 3 groups to contend for the win.

How They Went:

1. Backstreet Boys, 63.01% (46 of 73 votes), (Creed second with 6 votes)
2. Creed, 27.59% (16 of 58 votes), (Shania Twain second with 13 votes)
3. Meat Loaf, 32.31% (21 of 65 votes), (Shania Twain second with 12 votes)
4. Shania Twain, 43.86% (24 of 56 votes), (Beastie Boys second with 13)
5. Nirvana, 28.99 % (20 of 69 votes), (No Doubt second with 18)
6. No Doubt, 41.18% (35 of 85 votes), (Def Leppard second with 20)
7. Def Leppard, (37 of 85 votes), (Beastie Boys second with 33)

So, for the last round, are all of the members of the groups that got kicked out going to come back and ask questions of the remaining two groups, and then vote?

Is the final poll going to stretch to 48 hours instead of 24 to milk the ending in one over-indulgent and unnecessary spectacle?

Are we going to have an hour-long "retrospective" discussion about how the voting went from round 1 to 9, complete with a psj... (sorry, this is off the top of my head - the Nirvana guy) and AnrBucc mudwrestling contest?

I mean, if we're doing this, we've got to do it right!

1:04 pm, CST, Thursday (24 hours from when it was posted). When it says "this poll is closed" on the line right above the poll, the poll is closed. It's set to 24 hours from when it started.

Hopefully this will nip things in the bud.

The two remaining Survivors will make little tribute floats to each of the fallen groups, and then set them adrift in the Mississippi River.

That was an unintentionally funny answer, as I believe their last album before "hell froze over" was 1980, and they didn't record again until the mid-90's. So, as a band, they were essentially inactive during the 80's.

Hotel California, which I'm sure you know, was around 1977.

By the way, this was never intended to showcase the best groups of all time. It was only designed to have a variety of artists from different genres and different time periods. Sorry if the rap representatives turned out to be white. I will make sure to feature a more recent artist in the rap slot next time around. ;)

I have learned to hate the Eagles.

In 1996 I flew out to Vegas to drive cross country back east with this girl. Whenever she was driving she would crank the Eagles (thus keeping me from sleeping). When ever I was driving she would forbid me from playing my music (so she could sleep). She only owned two Eagles cassettes and the trip was generally miserable.

Fritz, I have a similar story with different results. In 1979, I went with a group of friends on a non-stop trip from San Diego to the East Coast. I had not been into popular music that much so that was when I first heard Queen and Styx albums and immediately fell in love with them, but the Eagles as well. I still recall heading into New Mexico during sunset with Take It To The Limit blaring and feeling pretty stoked.
