Take a Youtube broadcast and save it to your PC. I know there will probably have to be some conversion involved, but I'd love to save some of the media onto my hard drive to have a permanent copy.

Since Youtube is blocked at work I can give you an answer for sure, but you could try this.
Open a youtube video in your browser. Go to View Page Source, which should open the html of that page. Go through the code and see if there is a file name with a .mpg or a .avi in it. Then copy that link to your browser since it is the direct link to the video and download it that way.
Just a thought.

Yeah, this site is awesome ... although, I seem to get the "Server is too busy" message a lot. Just keep trying and it eventually goes through.
