Football Revisited (WWSM 07)

So, I've desperately wanted to play WWSM with American teams in a league that wasn't wage capped and lacking the best players in the world.

I dumped out the Israeli League and replaced it with a mishmash of top teams, most of whom I renamed myself and restocked with top talent. The result...is called the American Premier League.

It's the 2009-10 season and we've seen three years of the league already.

The two worst teams from the Premier League get demoted. The champion and playoff champion of the Championship get promoted. The worst two teams in the Championship get demoted to the (unplayable) American Association. Two teams from that league get promoted each year.

Some of the teams in that league that we've seen in the past include Wyoming 1890, New York Red Bulls, Miami FC, San Antonio Prime, Rochester America, Real Salt Lake, San Diego Crusaders, Carolina Athletic, Columbus Crew, Cleveland Athletic, Oklahoma FC.

I have no idea how I'll do this, as I've NEVER done a soccer dynasty before. But...I'll figure something out.

Did you "swap" leagues ?

or did you just rename all the existing Israeli teams to the teams below?

If you did swap them , I would love to know how difficult this is to do.

If you renamed, are the regens all Israeli.

Ok. So it took me FOREVER to get this figured out. But here's what I did.

I basically renamed Israel (because for my purposes having the players called Israelis and having the country named Israel would be a buzz kill for me. You can even overwrite the country's miniflag in the game.)

Anyway...I renamed Israel, then I (using the WWSM editor) changed Israel (now named America, just America) languages from Arabic and Hebrew to English and 10% Spanish, so that regens would be named like regular Americans probably would.

All of the teams still play in the US because their stadiums are here, but I swapped all of the teams for Israeli ones. I don't actually play with any other leagues on, but naturally if you played with MLS on, those teams would be there.

Have no idea how to run this, but....I think it'll probably be largely a glossover, focusing largely on the teams themselves, rather than the players individually. But we can go with it.

Things will kick off starting after the 2010 World Cup. I've become engrossed with a souped up Jamaica squad that I created for a side project. So after that's over with, I'll go ahead and get settled with the leagues and start to figure out what to tell you all.

I redid this league, because I didn't think it was very interesting and so, I'm going to perhaps start posting a dynasty to go with it. I dunno yet, I've never done a soccer dynasty and not sure if I can really keep it up to make it interesting enough. But..I think I'll try.

I'll probably write another thread, because the league's composition is different than before. Or maybe not. I'll see.

Please keep us informed on this, I like this idea, and want to see how it unfolds. I play FM and I would love to get the details, and see how the game plays.

Is there a reason you decided to keep it at only two playable levels? :) I would love to see a three level system that is playable to "emulate" the English leagues.
