Lot of Latin American semi-finalists, which shouldn't be too much of a surprise, given that it's in Mexico. Japan, Korea, quite a few Eastern European countries.

Two blondes out of the bunch, which I think represents the demographic shift in today's international market that ethnic diversity, particularly multi-racial women, are seriously in vogue.

Umm ... in the past decade, the Miss Universe winners have included:
3x from Puerto Rico,
2x from Russia (plus 1 Russian-born Canadian)
1x each from Trinidad & Tobago, Botswana, India, Panama, Dominican Republic, Australia, and the USA (listed as "mixed Korean, Portuguese, Hawaiian and Chinese ancestry")

Of these, only the Australian was a blonde. Indeed, since 1990 there have only been 3 blonde winners & one of those was from the seemingly unlikely locale of Namibia.

Point being, I'm not sure that "today's" is the right time frame if this is a benchmark you want to judge by.

US and Korea surprised me, they were not top 5 from what I saw.

I don't remember which girl it was who had Ando from Heroes ask her her question, but her answer sucked. How do you screw up a "Which super power would you want?" question? A never empty wallet to do charity work with? That answer sucked.

"A never empty head so I can not sound like an air-headed fool" might have been a more apt, if not realistic, response from her.
