*I suppose we'll allow Okies to come down, if they really want to... ;)
So there's been a bit of talk the past month or so about Ant and DC (and possibly cartman) coming up to DFW in July for a visit, and I'm thinking it would be a great time for a FOFC gathering. Now, this is in the very initial stages of discussion, so I just want to get an idea of who thinks they might be able to make it, and when might be the best date to get together.
I'm going to be out of town July 5-9, but after that I should be free for the rest of the month. I typically have Fridays and Saturdays off, so I was thinking that maybe a Saturday afternoon/evening gathering might work the best for everyone who might be interested.
Any thoughts and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds good! I'll actually be up there next weekend from Friday night until Sunday afternoon, when I head out to Vegas for the week.
Anytime in July will work for me. As for places, I'll check the calendar, and see if there are any worthwhile events that will make a good meeting location. I'm sure we can put something decent together, and with enough advance notice get a decent turnout.

Wow, how can you guys go wrong with Weird Al in town on the 14th.

You know, that's actually not a bad idea. My brother and I were talking about going to that, but we never made any definitive plans.
Weird Al seems just perfect for FOFC somehow... :D

How about a Rangers game?

And that's another good idea. Looking at their July schedule, the only Saturday they're in town is the 21st against the Indians, a 7:35 start.
The only problem I can see with this is if some (or hopefully most) of us want to go somewhere afterward to grab a drink and talk, traffic is a clusterfuck around there. Is there anywhere within walking distance of the ballpark we could go? I know there's a restaurant/bar IN the ballpark that stays open after games, but is it ridiculously overpriced like I would guess it is?

"Walking distance" is a relative term in July in Texas. Although after a game, I suppose the temps might be below 100. Sherlock's is off Lamar/30, I think? OTB and that steak joint off Copeland are pretty close, but not sure how late they stay open, being restaraunts and not bars. Think there are some other joints on Copeland the other direction toward Lamar, too.

You are forgetting that by July 21st there will probably only be 10k fans actually at a Ranger game (despite the inflated attendance figures from season tickets, etc...) so traffic should not be that bad.
Unless they have a 20 game win streak now, of course. :)

Don't know much of my schedule right now, but I'd be up for whatever if I'm in town.

I hate to be a party pooper, but we're taking the kids and will probably not make the Rangers game.

dola,
I'll be working through Saturday morning and I'll need to ask for Friday off, so if I can get like a 2 week notice that would be cool.
