Question:
What did Oneywa or however you spell his hame get a red card? I missed the damn game. Was it bad? How many games does he have to sit in the gold cup for getting a red card?

I've seen a lot of extremely poorly reffed games involving the US and CONCACAF teams, and that has to be in the top 5. Just absolutely horrible. Why do we even play in these tourneys? I know its our region's tourney, but its not even worth it if we don't get to play soccer. 90% of the time Guatemala dives and gets the call, and if the US is fouled, the foul is normally called on the US. Its just a complete joke. The US gains absolutely nothing out of playing in this tournament.

dola,
the US played near brilliantly in the first half, even with Guatemala bunkering the entire time. Its just poor finishing that didn't allow us to score.
In the second half, we didn't stand a chance, especially once the ref said fuck it. Onyewu's 2nd yellow was a yellow card worthy foul if only for the stupidity in it. It was pretty obvious that he was just extremely pissed over the refereeing and Bradley would have done well to sub him out (although the first yellow was absolute shit). Don't even get me started on Hejduk playing, let alone shifting into the center of defense for a spell. And Bob, your kid was overmatched all game. I have no problem with him starting, he's shown the skill, but he should have been one of the subs around the 60th minute, he was not on his game today.
I also found basically switching Dempsey and Donovan's positions quite odd, especially with Hejduk being so slack defensively.
And Christian Miles or whoever called the game (Max Bretos?) is a complete idiot, its like we were watching completely different game.

Gooch certainly deserved the second yellow card. The first one he got was a bit of a mystery though.

I watched the replay of the game last night. We dominated that game. It pisses me off, Guat hacked dempsey so many damn times.
I don't understand why Ching never gets any respect. I would really like to see him play more. I'm not a big twillman fan. He missed a WIDE open header that would of put us up 2 to 0.
Guat's goalie played a pretty good game, or it could of been much worse.
I actually like Dempsey in that position. I thought donavon did real well on the right also, but it is so hard to judge against lesser teams.

I thought Dempsey definitely looked good.

I agree overall, but Ching is absolutely not at his best right now while Twellman and Eddie Johnson are absolutely tearing up MLS. Makes sense to me that Ching would be the 4th option right now.

I think Landon had his moments over there, but had a shakey start. I think it's at least an experiment worth conducting.
Outside of some iffy back-4 action, i thought the worst element of the team was central midfield.... there was not much a presence there at all. It seemed like every single attack came up the sides.

Landon is an outstanding individual player during the run of play. He had three or four amazing crosses last night. But his dead-ball game is awful. He should not be the one taking free kicks and corners. We get nothing from them.

I was thinking it was the other way around...I thought the first one was deserved since he purposely kicked out at the guy after initial contact. It looked like he has malicious intent. I thought the second one was minor, especially since the exact same thing had occurred minutes before with Donovan getting KO'ed with no yellow.

100% agree. practically everytime he take a set piece its a bad one. once Beckham joins his team in LA people will see what a real dead ball player is and hopefully that will prompt the US team to change their SP taker. or embarass Daisy enough to improve that part of his game
