Coming soon - New Star Hockey! <o></o>

Yes, you heard right. An all new 'New Star' game is on the horizon! If the words face-off, icing and fisticuffs mean anything to you then you must be an ice hockey fan. Well good news, because our long time friend John Holden (Statto, on the forum) has developed New Star Hockey. This is very similar in style to New Star Soccer 1 & 2, featuring an exciting text-based match engine and many unique features. We're currently testing the game but if you want to take a peek head on over the the New Star Hockey forum (http://www.newstarsoccer.com/newstarforum/forumdisplay.php?f=71). <o></o>

New Star Soccer 4 - Development

New Star Soccer 4 is really starting to take shape now with development at the midway stage. The 3D matchengine is well underway with computer players passing, dribbling and shooting. We will soon begin creating 3D stadiums for many of the teams in NSS4 (that'll be 100s then) so if you're familiar with Google Sketch Up head on over to the forum (http://www.newstarsoccer.com/newstarforum/forumdisplay.php?f=61) and make yourself known. We want to recreate as many of the worlds stadiums as possible.
For all things NSS, make sure you check Simon's blog (http://www.newstarsoccer.com/blog.html) for regular updates. Thanks for reading!
Best regards,
The New Star Team

Neat. I've been playing New Star Soccer 1 quite a bit in the past week or two. As you can see, I'm a cheap bastard, so this is perfect for me!

The 3D match engine sounds interesting for the next version.

Agreed, I am curious to see how it goes. I enjoyed his last New Star Soccer 3, but I haven't played it in months due to the fact that I just started playing Neverwinter Nights 2 and just completed Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. He is an awesome developer who is continually improving the game (even adding some new features) long after the game is released.

Thanks for the news Icy.

I just started playing NSS3 again 2 weeks back. Lots of fun starting with a lousy English side and doing your best to move them up the divisions.

I went to look for a demo this morning, but it looks like the site just let me order the game? I didn't have much time to play around with it -- am I missing something?

Free to try; $19.95 to buy

Guess I missed that line. How long do you get to play for?

Also, can I change the keyboard controls? I hate using U, H, J, and K.

from their website:

Why do I need to register?
New Star Soccer 3 is free to download, and you can play the first 10 matches of your career for free. To continue playing after 10 matches you have to register your player name for the very low price of just USD $19.95. (Other currencies also accepted.)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!! :D

Yup, I'm a cheap dude. My wife had no idea what to give me for Father's Day and I was testing the demo so I told her to save the money, that I'll buy this game for my gift... :)

Cheapos of the world, unite! I think I'm like you, PilotMan. I've been enjoying NSS1 for the last couple weeks, but I suspect I'll be awful at NSS3 -- I've been playing text sims too long, so a game where you have to move and react is not my style (although I suspect that given our occupations, you've got better hand-eye coordination than me). Anyway, even with my button-mashing style, I managed to score two goals in five games as a striker in Scotland's Third Division. Go me!

Are international transfers possible? In NSS1, it seemed like if I started in England, I stayed there. If I stay in Scotland here, will teams from other countries show interest in me?

This is fun so far. I play a lot of modern sports games with all the controls and options... sometimes I wonder if it is all necessary? I swear sometimes it seems like I have way more fun with games where all I need to do is just running around, press one button to shoot, one to pass, etc. This is coming from someone who plays a lot of Madden and the like. It is actually fun just running around trying to score and not having to worry if I should have pressed button 6 to do a fake pass instead of button 4 to do the juke or if I should have used shot style 1 instead of 2, etc.

Yes, are possible, you can be transfered to any league in the database.

Looks like there's another sale -- this time for Sensational Soccer. Anyone played it? What's it like?
