View Full Version : Vegas with girlfriend and her best friend

Have I just made the worst decision of my life? (if anyone actually recalls I almost pulled a solo Vegas trip a few years ago and this decision may top that near trip) I have been to Vegas 6 times with my male buddies and got coaxed into going with my girlfriend and her friend the other night after a few drinks. Then I got to thinking about everything that I enjoy about Vegas. Obviously hardcore gambling, sports gambling, strip clubs, excessive drinking, checking out women on the strip and I realized that outside of the drinking we will probably be doing none of these. I hate shopping and have zero desire to go to any "exclusive" clubs while there. Should I get out while the gettings good or is there something I am missing? I am by no means locked into this trip (no money down yet), but I was wondering if anyone that has done the wife/girlfirend trip had any advice/suggestions. Remember though I won't have a male companion so every decision will probably result 2-1 against me.
(And there is no chance of a threesome either. Wouldn't want that even after a hefty amount of drinks. And I am sure her friend feels the same way about me :) )

I find it odd they even WANT you there.

Threesome. The only explanation.

Very true. We have only been dating for about 5 months so I guess I am still a guy that is fun to be around. Maybe I should all three of us a favor and opt out for some bs reason?

seriously, was it a courtesy invite.
Otherwise I would have a talk with her and tell her you are going to go do your own thing while they shop etc... but commit to having meals with then, drinks etc...

she'll know it is an excuse, you need to be honest if you don't want to go.

Is it possible that they see you as the money train?

Have you done any "vacation" trips like this with the girlfriend (alone) yet?
Either way, I don't think stuff like this is that weird or unusual anymore. You can actually play it to your advantage. Her and the friend can do girly stuff you have no interest in, while you gamble and hit the nudi bars. Then you only have to hang out with the girlfriend for the "highlights" (I'm assuming seperate rooms)

They have brought it up a few times since so it doesn't seem that way. But what initially seemed like a fun time/sex romp has started to dwindle more and more as I think about what Vegas really means to me. The girlfriend has never been so maybe she thinks I can show her what the town has to offer. Unfortunatly I am so burnt out on gawking at the big casinos that she might not be impressed when I go to throw dice while they are checking into the hotel. :)

No, but they took a trip together to Cancun about a month after I started dating her with the friend sleeping her way through the entire resort so maybe they felt guilty about going on another trip and leaving me out. We are kind of a group of three hanging out and we laugh at her friend and help her pick up on guys. But I am with you on how I would like the vacation to play out. I just hope they don't pick up a couple of guys at one of the night clubs.

Perhaps its reached a time in this relationship where you need to spend a weekend worrying about HER likes and dislikes for a change. As you say its HER first trip, make sure she enjoys and screw your own interests. If you get a little time to go rampage the tables and oggle other women so be it, but try showing HER a good time for this trip.
I keep reading an awful lot of MEMEMEMEMEME in your posts. Yer a couple, spend a weekend acting like it ;)

Sounds like it wouldn't be too bad. The three of you go together, eat most of the meals together, see a show or two together, and then the rest of the time they can pair up for shopping and leave you alone to go gamble, etc.

RendeR is who I agree with here. You're in a relationship..sometimes you gotta do shit you're not totally excited about..for the sake of scoring some points. Besides, you already said yes. Just go for it..You'll probably have a better time than you thhink you will.

Very true. It hurts a little but it's true. On the flip side don't you think they would want to experience all of the chick stuff without me around?

I'd say back out, then wait until your girlfriend's best friend replies to everyone that you really can't wuss out on them now.
Then bitch about it some more.

If that girl gets around (like you mentioned), this could be the greatest trip of your life. Maybe they'll want to hit the strip clubs, if you've never gone with a woman, you will be in for a treat...

Nice.....for some reason I am waiting for this to turn into Flasch's Awkward post. Does your girlfriend's friend have a boyfriend that she is leaving at home so that she can sleep with a band member that is playing in Vegas. Just curious....:D

Just because you go together doesn't mean you have to spend every minute together. Why can't they go shopping half the day and leave you alone to gamble? Guy, it's a trip to Vegas, don't analyze it, just go.

Wait...you're going to Vegas with your girlfriend, yet she has someone who can do all the things girls do in Vegas (spa, shows, etc.), leaving you to do the things guys do (gamble, drink, watch sports). Why is this a problem?

Have to agree with most of the posts like this one.
Go, have fun. If you three have fun hanging out together, you can still do that in Vegas. Split up for awhile. Offer to teach your GF how to gamble. I don't really see anything weird about it.
Oh, and this thread is worthless without pics of the friend at least.

Bad idea. I'd say go somewhere else if you want a couples w/third leg weekend. But as was mentioned above, pics are needed of the friend to make a complete call.

Just out of curiosity, have to talked with your girlfriend about what she expects the trip to be like and what she has in mind? That's the first step (if it hasn't already happened) - from there you can figure out how much or how little overlap there is between what she has in mind for the trip and what you prefer to do when you're there. And at that point, you can then figure out how much you may be willing to sacrifice of your own preferences in what to do in order to make your girlfriend happy.
My initial reaction is this: you've been there quite a few times and done your thing - would it really be so bad to do a trip there with your girlfriend and her friend and do things more along the lines of what they're interested in? Doesn't mean you have to go with them on a bunch of shopping trips - that could be time you're in the casino gambling or betting on sports. But there are lots of times in any relationship where you compromise on what you want to do in order to keep things going smoothly. The more times you do things as a favor to the girlfriend, the more ammunition you have to get her approval to do the things you want to do.

I once went to Vegas with my girlfriend, her brother, and her dad, and I think we all had fun. I don't see the problem here at all.

Tell her that you cannot go because you've been invited to a "3-day-long camping trip/bachelor party" with a bunch of guys whom you do not know, and whose names you therefore cannot divulge.

They may indeed, but wait to get there to see if thats true, and if so, BONUS! you get time for your guys things. If she really wants to enjoy the time with you ( both) as it seems, then go along with it, have a good time and show her you're not just some life-bachelor in training =)

Yep, I wait to Vegas with wife (a year or so after being married), admittedly with a bunch of friends. However, somehow just the two of us ended up at a strip bar with my wife getting a couple of lap dances. And I mean lap dances. The funny part was just as we got out of the strip bar we bumped into some of the people we were with, and asked us what was up. My wife said, "just getting a lap dance." My buddies did a triple take. I just smiled.
So, there's hope yet if you get the two of them at the strip bar, a bit of alcohol, a bit of that lesbian fantasy thing going on, and the next thing you know you're back at the hotel room and . . .
Now, chances are that won't happen. But, what? Are you just going to look at that 3% chance in the face and say, ah forget it?
