It seemed his show was always on growing up.

I can't believe he was only 74. He looked that old when I was growing up. Maybe it was the sweater.

Years ago, I attended a concert by his wife, who is an accomplished pianist. I met him afterward. He was 100% like he is on the show - which is kinda strange when you think about it. I don't think I could handle that 24/7.

Anyway, here's to Mr. Rogers and making me feel even older than I already am.

One of the earliest memories I have is of me watching his show. It's strange to say about someone who was just a television character but when I was growing up he felt like a member of the family in many ways. Hopefully PBS will re-run his show for years, so kids growing up now and in the future have a chance to enjoy and learn from the show as well.

He had already retired and his show still runs every day. It'll be on for quite a while I bet.

Wow, I didn't even know he retired. I guess I stopped paying attention when I discovered boobies. :D

He was the butt of many jokes, but he was also well loved by the kids who grew up following him in the land of make believe. Rest in peace.

I started watching him when he first came on PBS in 1968 (I was 8 and we only had 4 channels). I still remember all of those unique characters from Make-Believe Land (or whatever it was called). This was the only highlight of his show since the rest of it was just like school. Mr. Rogers truly was a class person.

I can still hear the red caboose.

RIP, you will be missed.

sad sad day.

FWIW, the Pittsburgh PBS affiliate where the show was taped is airing a two and a half hour retrospective tonight. It might be worth calling your local PBS station to ask about them broadcasting it as well.

If a wonderful, quality person such as Mr. Rogers was stricken with and passed away because of something as terrible as cancer, imagine just what in the heck some of us are bound to go through sooner or later in life.

The lord works in very mysterious ways at times.

I loved the show when I was little and then started to make fun of it as I got older, but it always held a place in my heart. Mr Rogers will be missed...

No one could ever blame him lowering the quality of tv. Not only that, but it was one of the few childrens shows that wasn't extremely obnoxious and attention span shortening.

It was nice that he didn't talk down to children either.

I watched him constantly growing up. What's really eerie is just a day before this me and my team teacher broke out into the theme song to the show. For some odd reason, it popped into my head and we both started singing it. Weird...

I'll miss him. Everytime I go through Pittsburgh International, I look at that little area they have for him there.

Farewell to a man that holds a positive place in many, many peoples hearts and minds. I've always appreciated his show and what he's done for countless children.

thanks for everthing Mr. Rogers.

This is definately one of those cases where you know the man did great work with his life: no one has a single bad thing to say about him and you just can't say enough good things. I don't know why, I haven't seen the show in 15 years, at least, but this is one of those cases that hits a little closer to home than most. And pretty much every person I have talked to today feels the same.

If there's a place better than heaven, it's for Mr. Rogers
That pretty much sums it up.

Besides the fact that he was a Vietnam sniper. Atleast that is what I have heard. I watched the show a lot when I was younger, but didn't particularly like the show. Terrible news though.

RIP Mr. Rogers

Mr Rogers grew up no more that 15 mins from me. He is someone that I will always remember. It was like he helped me through my childhood. My morning alarm woke me to the words of "Today we have lost a great man, Fred Rogers has died today." Not a good thing to wake up to. The world is a better places having him. God rest your soul Fred McFeeley Rogers.

One of the professors in my communications department has put together a sound collage that places a different spin on the Mr.Rogers world. It's worth listening to at least a couple of minutes. You might want to check out some of my professor's practical jokes as well. Some are quite amusing. Point your browser to www.kembrew.com
