The "most loyal owner in the NFL" has released the all-time rushing leader. I, for one, am shocked.

I disagree with Kodos.

Unfortunatly, there wasn't a whole lot Jerry could do. Emmitt wouldn't take a pay cut and seven mill is way too much for what he is doing now. Jerry asked him to retire as a Cowboy, and Emmitt refused. What else was he supposed to do?

Sigh, just as I sent the last post an Emmitt 10-10-220 add came on tv. :( :( :(

I actually agree that Emmitt should have been willing to take a pay cut.

Sad, sad yes it is.
Imagine, Jerry Jones. He fires the only loved coach in Cowboy history (Tom Landry) and now he cans the all-time leading rusher in NFL history and the last of the BIG 3 (Aikman, Irvin) Emmitt Smith.
And so another chapter begins...

As much as I personally hate Jones, he did help make Dallas a winner again. Now its time to rebuild. I didn't want to see Emmitt go, but 7 million is a lot of cap room on a team in dire need of a ton of stuff. I don't like it, but it doesn't shock me.

Life sucks, deal.
Hopefully Emmitt will retire as opposed to put on another's team's threads.
