Has anyone seen it? Antmeister and I are interested in putting this on our Netflix Q but we don't know if we should watch this or the actual TV show first.
Any thoughts?

The miniseries takes place before the show. It basically serves as the pilot and sets up everything that happens later. It's a great show. You should enjoy it.

Cool, I have added it and moved it to the top of my Q, thanks Larry!

Yeah, the mini series was a "back door pilot" for the series itself. I am a big Star Trek fan and never really understood what my brother saw in BSG. I was bored one day so I put it into my queue and have been happy ever since. I'm just about to finish season 2 (2.0 and 2.5 together) and am excited for the season 3 DVD release this fall. It's a great show!

Oh, this is the new show that has imitation Cylons and a girl Starbuck.
I have the original show DVD and luckily forget that SciFi bastardized the show...

Never mind the new version is like 5,000 times better than the original...

You don't know what you're missing. The new version kills the old version.

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if the mini-series was something that occured after the first season or before it. Hadn't watched one show, but had heard great things from others.

The original suffered from a lack of budget. At its best it was an excellent program. To fill out the season they were forced to reuse shot after shot and make a few episodes that were horrible... all seeming to have the same plot too! I would have been one of the first in line to watch the new show if they had done it as a continuation of the original, but the "reimagining" thing is simply annoying.
A "reimagined" Star Wars might revolve around Luca Skywalker and her clone Leia. It turns out they are both clones of Anna Skywalker, now known as Darthess Vader. Darthess is now a cyborg who looks surprising like 7 of 9... basically a sexy woman with a couple of things stuck on her face. You could have kick-ass graphics and lots of lesbian stuff. There would be people who like it better than the original... It could be better written and produced. It's still not Star Wars.
Wasn't it really better when people stole other people's ideas and disguised them, rather than just saying "I got nothing better... let's redo it!"
I'd rather watch Galactica 1980!

I'm more mad they made Apollo a woman, not Starbuck.

So true. I've seen both and count me among those who think the newer version is much better despite this.

Yep. It's a fantastic setup for the show, and absolutely essential viewing. The series is really good.

Agreed. I've seen through Season 2.5 (all that's out on DVD) and I think the mini-series is probably the strongest "episode(s)" of the entire show. Definitely required viewing if you're interested in the series.
